00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development of DSWD
00:04has prepared assistance for our countrymen who are affected by the typhoon
00:08in Northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
00:11Details in the report of Rod Laguzan.
00:17The province of Batanes is now in need of additional assistance
00:22after the typhoon Hulian.
00:24According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development,
00:27bottled water is one of the needs of the province.
00:30DSWD Undersecretary Diana Roscajipe explains,
00:33there is still a supply of water in the province,
00:36but it is being avoided to run out.
00:38Which is why we already coordinated this with the Office of Civil Defense
00:42and of course the transport of additional goods like food items
00:47or hygiene kits that they need.
00:50Through the help of the Office of Civil Defense,
00:53we are preparing so that a Navy vessel can bring this big amount of goods to Batanes.
01:00According to her, the plan continues,
01:02just like flying, using the C-130 to bring the needed bottled water.
01:08But it depends on the weather,
01:10while the removal of the gale warning is still being waited for
01:13so that the Navy vessel can be used.
01:15Aside from OCD, DSWD will also be involved in this.
01:19The report of the Governor is that there are a lot of houses that were damaged.
01:25So we have also coordinated,
01:27because DSWD is the vice-chair of response,
01:31so we have coordinated with other agencies that can help.
01:35This is also to assess the situation of the houses that were damaged by the typhoon.
01:39Even though it did not landfall,
01:41many places were affected by the super typhoon,
01:43including Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and CAR.
01:47According to DSWD, more than 45,000 families are affected in the three regions.
01:52The largest number here is the Ilocos Region.
01:55The government first started distributing relief goods to the affected areas in the mainland Luzon.
02:00More than 600 families are currently staying in evacuation centers.
02:06According to NDRMC,
02:07one family is missing from CAR,
02:09while eight families were injured in Region 2.
02:12Three families were totally damaged,
02:15and 85 were partially damaged in Region 1, 2, and CAR.
