00:00Here we are today at DDS, we're going to be demoing the Bearhug on some 6-inch, 13-and-a-half
00:17polyethylene pipe.
00:18Today for the demo, we're going to forego putting the static grounding rod onto the
00:22tool just based on the fact that it's a demo and the ground is a little bit hard today.
00:27So why not?
00:28Let's go check it out.
00:29So we're going to connect the manual pump up.
00:35Now you adjust the pump lever to the release position to open the tool.
00:41The tool has color-coded stops, so you find it on one side and just match it on the other.
00:52You set the pump to squeeze, and you start going down slowly.
00:58The ASTM standards for squeeze and release rates are also on this tool as well.
01:05The pump has two different stages.
01:07Once it comes in contact with the pipe, the speed of the tool slows down, but it makes
01:12it easier to raise and lower the bar.
01:19Momentarily stop to let the pipe relax.
01:22You want to increase those times and pull the weather.
01:25Normally it's about double.
01:28Once you get down to a certain point, you can install the four saddle bolts.
01:34As he's pumping, the bolts are going to rise, and we'll just continually thread them in.
01:40That's just in case of any hydraulic failure or any cuts in the hoses or anything like
01:45that that you're not going to lose pressure.
01:47So in order to satisfactorily control flow, you need to either be able to touch the stops
01:51or reach 10,000 PSI, whichever comes first.
01:55And there we have it.
01:56The pipe is now squeezed off, and you'll be able to do any repairs that you need it to.
02:04Before you release the pipe, you've got to make sure all four saddle bolts are disengaged
02:08with the bottom saddle clamp threads.
02:11Quickly move the control lever to the neutral position, and then slowly and carefully to
02:17the release position.
02:18It's recommended to do a half an inch and then pause.
02:21So when the tool no longer opens due to the pipe pressure, you can fully release the tool
02:26from the pipe.
02:31And then for maintenance for the tool, just make sure all the moving parts are unblocked,
02:36free of any debris.
02:37You want to make sure that you store it in the closed position with the cylinders all
02:41the way fully retracted.
02:45And that is how you use the Bearhug Squeeze Tool.
