00:06filed against her. As such, she is perfectly qualified to run for office in next year's

00:11midterm polls. A reality check Senate President Cheese Escudero spelled out even as he and his

00:18lawmaker colleagues seek the defense chief's help on how to reinforce the current anti-espionage law,

00:24especially in light of one Alice Guo who's been suspected of being a Chinese spy,

00:30as our Daniel Manalastas reports.

00:35Senate President Francis Escudero urged the Defense Department to come up with the proposals

00:40or suggestions on how to strengthen the law against espionage. This in light of this Ms.

00:46Alice Guo's controversial status.

00:48So it's good to know from them,

00:52that's why it's up to us, what changes they want to make so that we can study

00:59how this can be improved if necessary. Actually, it would be a curious amendment if ever,

01:04because that is close to a dead letter law to my mind. Because it's rare to use,

01:09or maybe they haven't used it yet. And in light of the news on the possibility

01:13that Guo may run for the next elections.

01:18Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino advised the common act to be vigilant in light of the

01:40possibility that some may decide to run with a case similar to Guo's. Senate Minority Leader

01:46Coco Pimentel said qualifications of candidates should be thoroughly vetted or scrutinized,

01:52saying there's need to be vigilant short of panicking. For Senator Grace Poe, the filing

01:58of COCs should be an opportunity to stop illegal and undesirable individuals from entering our
