00:00Senate President Francis Escudero laid the groundwork for how to strengthen the Espionage Law in the country.

00:09Senators were careful in processing some of the candidates who could be a part of the situation.

00:16Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo.

00:22Senate President Francis Escudero urged the Department of National Defense

00:27to lay the groundwork for how to strengthen the Espionage Law.

00:31In the middle of the controversy, Mayor Alice Guo was dismissed.

00:34This was followed by a report by a Chinese spy who was arrested in Thailand.

00:40The spy reported that Guo could be a spy as well.

00:43It's good to know from them that they want to change something so we can study it.

00:54How can this be improved?

00:57Actually, it would be a curious amendment, if ever.

00:59Because that is close to a dead letter law, to my mind.

01:02Because it's rare to use, or maybe they haven't used it yet.

01:06And now, there's a rumor that the COC can still hire Guo.

01:10Escudero asked why it's still possible.

01:13Because the decisions against him are not yet final, including his disqualification.

01:19There are many politicians, incumbent or dismissed,

01:24who can still run because the decisions against them are not yet final and executory.

01:31Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino urged the COMELEC

01:35to be careful of the possibility that there's a similar scenario to Guo

01:40that he can run in the Hathor-Lambayan 2025.

01:43Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel advised that all candidates should be careful, but not panic.

01:52Senator Grace asked,

01:55the current COC is a good opportunity to stop the illegal and unaccepted individuals

02:03who can enter our electoral system.
