00:00Rescue and relief operations are underway in the areas of Ilocos Norte.
00:05In the Cordillera region, several landslides have been recorded in several places,
00:09including a famous landslide in Baguio City.
00:13Jhorton Campana of PTV Cordillera is in the center of the news.
00:22Three houses were affected by the landslide in Dominican Hill, Baguio City
00:26due to the heavy rainfall brought by Hurricane Julian yesterday,
00:30while the affected families fled to Quirino Magsaysay.
00:35The barangay officials strictly monitor the situation in the area.
00:40Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong also inspected the alleged landslide.
00:45Meanwhile, 81 barangays in Abra, Baguio City, Benguet, Ifugao, and Mountain Provinces
00:55More than 9,200 families were affected by the landslide,
00:58resulting in the loss of almost 32,000 individuals.
01:01Two houses were damaged, while three were partially damaged in Cordillera.
01:07According to DPWH, all national roads and bridges in Abra, Ifugao, and Baguio City are now passable.
01:16Some road sections in Apayao, Benguet, Mountain Provinces, and Calinga
01:21are not yet passable due to the landslide.
01:24Clearing operations are underway by the agency for the affected roads.
01:31Due to the ongoing storm of Hurricane Julian, which is now a super typhoon,
01:35classes in Abra and Benguet were suspended again,
01:39while in Kindergarten and Senior High School, classes in Apayao and Baguio City were suspended.
01:45Classes in Antas, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and Pangasinan were also suspended.
01:51In Barangay Dipila and Vintar, Ilocos Norte,
01:54the road was no longer passable after the landslide due to the strong flow of water.
01:59Rescue operations were undertaken by members of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office,
02:05Bureau of Fire Protection, and Local Rescue Group
02:09for the residents affected by the floods and heavy rains in Lawag City, Batac City,
02:14Pauay, and other areas in the province.
02:17As a response to the landslides,
02:20Ilocos Norte Governor Mathew Marcos Manotoc led the distribution of relief goods to various evacuation centers.
02:29The DSWD has already sent additional family food packs to local governments in the Ilocos region
02:36that can be distributed to families affected by the floods.
