00:00The White Snake
00:07Long, long ago lived a noble king, great ruler of hearts, loved by everyone.
00:14Someone who knew magically everything that happens in the kingdom.
00:19Every night after dinner, he is served a dish alone by his trusted servant.
00:25Not even the servant knows what the dish is.
00:28One day he decided to find out.
00:31He opened the dish and saw a white snake killed and cooked as the dish.
00:38He picks up a piece and eats it.
00:43Then he hears chattering outside the windows.
00:47He hears sparrows talk about the queen's lost ring, which the duck by the pond ate.
00:54He catches the duck and gets the ring by killing it and hands the ring to the queen.
01:00The king asks him for his reward.
01:03Your majesty, all I want is a horse and some traveling money.
01:08I want to travel some distance and see the world.
01:13Now having the power to listen to animals, the servant happily rode the jungle
01:19when he came across three helpless fish by the weeds.
01:24Oh, what bad luck we have to die like this helplessly.
01:29The kind-hearted servant picks up the fish and puts them in the water.
01:35We will remember you and repay you for your kindness.
01:38The servant continues his ride along the pathway when he hears the shout of a man.
01:45He sees it's an ant king outside an ant hill on the pathway.
01:50Why cannot folks with their clumsy beasts keep off our bodies?
01:55That stupid horse with his heavy hooves has been treading down my people without mercy.
02:02We will remember you. One good turn deserves another.
02:09The turn led the servant into the deep forest where he comes across two old ravens
02:15who throw away their young ones to fend for themselves.
02:18The young ones cry out in fear helplessly flapping their wings.
02:23Oh, what helpless chicks we are. We must shift for ourselves and yet we cannot fly.
02:30What can we do but lie here and starve?
02:34The servant gets down from the horse and strikes it down with his sword.
02:39The three ravens come hopping and satisfy their hunger and look up to the servant.
02:46We will remember you. One good turn deserves another.
02:53He reaches a large city where the king's rider makes an announcement to the crowd.
02:59The king's daughter wants a husband but whoever seeks her hand must perform a hard task
03:05and if he does not succeed he will forfeit his life.
03:10The servant heads to the palace gardens and sees the daughter and falls in love.
03:16He goes to the king and announces that he wants to marry his daughter.
03:21The servant is put on a boat and taken to the middle of the sea.
03:26The king accompanies in a larger boat.
03:29The king then throws his ring into the water and lays out the challenge.
03:34If you come up from the water without the ring you will be thrown in again and again
03:41until you perish in the waves.
03:46A shocked and helpless servant stands helplessly looking into the water
03:51when the three fish come to the surface and put a shell at his feet.
03:56They smile and leave as the servant opens the shell to find the ring.
04:01He happily takes it to the king.
04:04However the princess is angry and calls for another task to be completed
04:10before she agrees to marry the servant.
04:14The angry princess takes the servant to the garden
04:18where she spreads ten sacks of millet grains all over as the night falls.
04:24Tomorrow morning before sunrise these must be picked up
04:28and not a single grain be wanting.
04:31Lost and hopeless the servant gives up and sits among the grains
04:36and closes his eyes as the night passes and the days rise.
04:41He opens his eyes to the sight of ten full sacks of millet
04:46and thousands of ants present led by the smiling ant king.
04:52Happily he sees the princess arrive who is shocked but still not satisfied.
04:59The princess however still could not soften her heart.
05:04There is one more task you must complete so that I may marry you.
05:09Yes my lady your wish is my command.
05:12You shall get me a golden apple from the tree of life.
05:17The stunned servant leaves the kingdom on a quest to find the golden apple.
05:23He travels for days aimlessly as he does not know where is the tree of life.
05:29He grows tired, his shoes give way.
05:32He decides to rest under a tree and closes his eyes.
05:38On opening them he finds the three ravens sitting on his knees
05:43with a golden apple on his stomach.
05:46We are the three young ravens whom you saved from starving
05:51when we had grown big and heard that you were seeking the golden apple.
05:56We flew over the sea to the end of the world where the tree of life stands
06:01and have brought you the apple.
06:05With happiness he takes the apple back to the princess
06:09whose heart melts on seeing this apple.
06:12She cuts it into two and they both eat it.
06:16They get married and live happily ever after.
06:34you
