00:00All right, we are here with Isabella Rosa at the Hard Rock Artist Lounge.
00:07Congratulations on all the things.
00:10Thank you so much. I'm so excited to be here.
00:12I know. It's going to be phenomenal.
00:14You and your brother, like really the dynamic duo he does producing,
00:19you guys co-write together, right?
00:21Have you had to get into these writing sessions,
00:26work with anybody else now,
00:27or have you just solely been working with him still?
00:30Honestly, it's mostly just us two.
00:32Okay.
00:33We've done some outside sessions with people who are so talented and everything,
00:37but honestly, I'm so close with him that it feels so natural to write everything with him,
00:44but we're doing both, which is really exciting.
00:47Do you feel like you could just put your foot down if you're like,
00:50I'm not being uncommitted, not committed to my brother.
00:56He's the sole producer,
00:58because you got like Billie Eilish and Phineas or whatever,
01:00and I feel like she put her foot down that that's the path she wants to continue on.
01:05Do you feel like you have the power to do that?
01:07Absolutely. Yeah. I mean,
01:09I feel like the reason that I wouldn't have my career without Thomas,
01:16and I feel like I don't want to not work with him ever,
01:22and for me, it's always been a given that I will work with him,
01:25and I'm like, no matter what,
01:26I'm like, I'm happy to do outside sessions and all that.
01:29That's great. I'm so excited,
01:30but you cannot take me away from my brother.
01:33I love that. So, I heard you,
01:35for your writing process, you always do the chorus first,
01:39and then you build the rest of the song.
01:41How many, are you sitting on a ton of hooks right now that are just not a part of full songs?
01:48We're so lazy.
01:51No, we just, honestly,
01:55most of the stuff that we have right now is just hooks,
01:58but I feel like it's just honestly,
02:02the most fun part for me is writing the hook,
02:04and then we flesh it out later on.
02:08But sometimes I feel like in speaking of outside sessions,
02:12we tend to write more of the whole song in outside sessions,
02:15which is a fun thing to experiment with,
02:17but usually Thomas and I are like,
02:18we'll just do the chorus, it's fine.
02:20Got you. You kind of like test it out.
02:22I like how you use TikTok to test out songs almost.
02:27Have you ever gotten a response that you didn't love
02:31and went back to tweak a song because of that,
02:34or scrap a song altogether?
02:36Oh, all the time.
02:37Oh, okay.
02:38I mean, TikTok, I feel like definitely keeps you humble,
02:42because you can T something,
02:46and it'll be favorite,
02:48and you can also T something,
02:49and it'll do 30 likes after you have favorite.
02:51You know what I mean?
02:52So it's just like, I've never,
02:56I have not figured out TikTok.
02:58I don't think anybody can,
02:59but I just always try to keep putting shots on the board.
03:02I feel like that's all you can do,
03:04but I take things down all the time.
03:06Okay, okay.
03:07Do you remember the first artist
03:08you fell in love with through the platform?
03:11That's so interesting.
03:13Like somebody you discovered on there?
03:17I feel like I discovered, oddly enough,
03:19a lot of Ethel Caine on TikTok.
03:21I feel like she got huge,
03:23and then she already had a huge fan base that loved her,
03:27and then I found a lot of her old,
03:30kind of unreleased things on TikTok,
03:32which is very fun.
03:33I love her.
03:34Yeah, so some of the stuff you and your brother write,
03:37I mean, it's deep.
03:39It's personal stuff, you know?
03:40Have you ever worried about playing some of that stuff
03:45for family members, or how does that go down?
03:48Definitely, definitely.
03:49I feel like sometimes,
03:51if I'm writing about, I don't know,
03:54my relationship or just my feelings in general
03:56that I maybe don't talk about,
03:59I always kind of wonder what their reaction will be,
04:02but I feel like they understand,
04:06and they're very, very supportive of everything,
04:09so I feel lucky.
04:11I haven't gotten a crazy reaction so far.
04:13Sometimes my mom will be like,
04:15I don't like that lyrics.
04:16Take it out.
04:17Right, right.
04:18And then do you have to do it?
04:19Are you like, no, Mom, this is my life?
04:22Yeah, no, I honestly doesn't really.
04:25I do listen to her, though,
04:27because it's not that I don't take it into account.
04:30It's just if my gut instinct overrides her,
04:33then I'll listen to myself.
04:34Yeah, yeah.
04:35So obviously, music really can control our emotions,
04:41and it plays such a huge part in mental health.
04:46Is there an artist you're like,
04:48go to when you just wanna feel so happy?
04:51You're like, I know I could put on this artist,
04:53and I'm gonna be happy.
04:56Oh, hmm.
04:59That's so interesting.
05:00Whenever somebody asks me what artists I'm listening to
05:02or something, I just forget any music
05:04I've ever listened to ever.
05:06But who have I been listening to recently?
05:08Honestly, well, this could be happy or sad,
05:11but a lot of Billie recently, actually,
05:13has been making me very happy.
05:14But she goes, you could either, like, if you're sad,
05:17you can listen to Billie.
05:18If you're happy, you can listen to Billie.
05:19Depends on the song.
05:20It kinda just depends on the song, your mood, whatever.
05:23But as long as you're in a good mental health space,
05:26I feel like a good cry is still kinda like,
05:29sometimes you just need to sob it out.
05:31It's healthy.
05:32You need to get it out.
05:33Yeah, absolutely.
05:33When it comes to mental health,
05:34is there any misconception you feel like
05:38about mental health or therapy
05:42that you think is worth addressing?
05:45I think that it's, I'm happy that it's becoming
05:51more of a conversation,
05:52and people feel like they can talk about it more.
05:56But I feel like, I don't think there's any,
06:01I don't think there's any,
06:03like, I just, I still do think a lot of people
06:05are afraid to ask for help.
06:07I mean, I feel like a lot of the times,
06:09if I'm struggling, I don't wanna feel like
06:12I have to ask for help, or like, I get embarrassed.
06:15And, you know, I just feel like it's always better
06:19to say something, or rant about it on a TikTok,
06:23or whatever it is.
06:24I don't, I think that you should always talk about it
06:26in whatever way you want to.
06:28I don't think you should ever keep it to yourself
06:31if you feel like it's something you need to talk about.
06:33And what about you?
06:34Do you, have you found, like, certain things
06:36to protect your mental health in this industry
06:40with how crazy it can be?
06:41Do you have, like, hobbies, or just little things you do
06:44to make sure you're always good?
06:46I think it helps to, like, I honestly,
06:50I mean, just talk to my family consistently.
06:52I feel like I get so, and, you know,
06:55my boyfriend and my loved ones,
06:57I feel like, I mean, they're the best,
07:01and it just, sometimes I get so in my head about everything
07:06that it's hard to, like, see reality sometimes.
07:10And it's helpful to have somebody be like,
07:11okay, wake up, like, this is not actually,
07:14you're not, nothing's going downhill,
07:16you're not gonna, like, you know, fail at everything.
07:19Like, you're fine, and you're gonna be great.
07:22And it's just helpful to have, like,
07:24a reality check sometimes.
07:25Awesome. Isabelle La Rosa,
07:27we are so excited to have you here tonight.
07:29Congratulations on everything.
07:30Thank you so much.
07:31Thank you for having me.
07:32You're welcome.
