00:00How are you, Noah?
00:04Good. So good to see you.
00:05It's always good to have new music from you out.
00:07And I'm so happy.
00:09Yeah. How are you?
00:10How are you just feeling about everything?
00:11I mean, it's so broad, but you know what I mean?
00:12Like this phase of life, we're wrapping up 2024, which is crazy to say.
00:16Yeah, I'm really excited to release new music at the top of the year,
00:19even though I just released some music right now.
00:22But I feel like there is just so much more I want to release,
00:26but I have to wait for a couple of months.
00:29But it feels like you put out stuff.
00:30I mean, maybe it's more features and stuff.
00:31Obviously, Spot A Fake is your very own.
00:34But what's the thinking there?
00:35Do you want to get something out before the year ended or what was the plan there?
00:39I mean, I'm still doing visuals for it.
00:41So at the top of the year, I will have most likely a music video for it.
00:47But maybe I know the fans are waiting.
00:49I just have so many more records that I want to put out at the top of the year as well.
00:52So I'm just I'm probably just going to put out three records.
00:57I just want to give them everything.
00:59I don't want to hold on to it anymore.
01:01I want the album to come out.
01:02I want just everything to be there.
01:04So, yeah, gotcha.
01:05So we have the album.
01:06It's a three singles.
01:09What is the plan look like?
01:10It's just like whatever you feel like putting out in due time.
01:13Yeah, I'm very blessed right now to be in a place where I can do whatever I want.
01:17I feel like I have the creative freedom to,
01:22you know, a lot of things change this year where I'm at a place where I can just put out music anytime I want,
01:26which I'm very excited about.
01:28I have another song coming out this month.
01:30It's a K-pop feature.
01:31So, yeah, a lot of new music.
01:33Oh, people are gonna be so excited about that.
01:36Are you like always overflowing with music?
01:38Like, is there ever dry spells where you're like, I got nothing?
01:40I'm a workaholic, so I'm always working.
01:42And that's probably why I'm still single.
01:45But I'm always working and I am always making music and I'm always in the studio.
01:51I'm always traveling.
01:52But I feel like this summer I kind of had a time,
01:57had time to reset and figure out what I really wanted for this next album.
02:00I didn't want to just put an album together and put it out.
02:03I like have been making this album since last August,
02:06and now I'm making even more music like right now and in December.
02:10I'm almost there, but I'm kind of just trying to top each one.
02:14You know, I'm competitive with myself, if that makes sense.
02:17Married to the grind.
02:19Just working.
02:21I mean, it's so fun.
02:22Every song that we get from you is always like, I don't know,
02:24there's something that's so distinct about an Ava Max song, if that makes sense.
02:29Like, what do you think it is when you put out these songs that are so genuinely you?
02:33I don't know.
02:34I feel like I just like making pop music.
02:36So I'm just, I feel like I've figured out how to like just craft a good pop song.
02:42As weird as that sounds, it might sound kind of cheesy, but I love making pop music.
02:47So this new album has like slower songs, some pop rock country records
02:51that the fans have never heard from me.
02:53And a couple of records that I think are the best records I've ever made in my entire life,
02:59which I'm very excited about that for people to hear and they're slower
03:02and they're nothing like my songs now.
03:04I'm happy for you.
03:05It's amazing.
03:06Ava Max country song.
03:07Are you kidding me?
03:07That's what we're getting.
03:09You know, it's something like that.
03:122025.
03:13I can't wait.
03:14You're also I mean, you're right.
03:15There's just like something so great about the pop music you do.
03:19And it rolls into one wish Christmas song.
03:21I had to drop that to Christmas.
03:24Yeah, I was listening to it this morning.
03:25I'm a big Christmas person.
03:26So I'm like in it now.
03:28And I was just taking in everything new for the year.
03:31What do you do?
03:32What happens with the process of making a Christmas song?
03:34Because it can't be like around Christmas, right?
03:37You do this when it was hot out and like summertime or I this was made in the summer.
03:43Yeah. Yeah.
03:44But it's not like, you know, I'm listening to Christmas music.
03:47I just feel like you have to be happy to make Christmas music.
03:50Right. And I'm a happy person.
03:53And so I can make I can make a good kind of cheerful record, you know, and that's what Christmas is.
03:59It's just cheerful energy.
04:02And I don't know.
04:04Absolutely.
04:04What do you do when you need to get into the spirit?
04:06Because I just somewhere I carry at the Hollywood Bowl.
04:09She doesn't like Christmas show or whatever.
04:11And after seeing that, it's just like I'm officially it's Christmas time.
04:15Do you do anything when it's like this time of year and you just need to feel like Christmas?
04:19You know, I'm just kind of thinking about, you know, spending time with the family.
04:23That's about it.
04:23I just I'm traveling so much that it makes me really excited to be in L.A. and hang out with everybody.
04:29You're doing so many things right now.
04:30What are you having the most fun with?
04:32Finishing the album.
04:34Yeah, I'm just I'm just in a place where I just want to give the fans like everything I have and be super vulnerable with them, which I don't think I've been yet.
04:44It's a great workaholic answer.
04:45Get in the world.
04:46Is that a workaholic answer?
04:48No, no, no, not at all.
04:50But we are getting so much from you.
04:52We appreciate it.
04:53Obviously, the collab, too, with Forever Young was great.
04:55We love that song.
04:56How big is nostalgia when it comes to like your music making process?
04:59Does that play into it at all?
05:00Yeah, I think so.
05:02David actually came to me with the record, and I obviously love that record.
05:06It's been around for generations.
05:07Like my uncle knew the first original one.
05:09I listened to the one of the remixes when I was like 16, when I lived in South Carolina.
05:14So I was very familiar with the record, and I was super excited.
05:18He asked me to be on it.
05:19And how cool is it to have the original voice of Alphaville on there, too?
05:22It's kind of unique, right?
05:23I know.
05:24So it's kind of like a remix to me in a way.
05:25But again, it's just so incredible to sing.
05:29It has some it has a really crazy energy when you're performing it.
05:34It just feels universal, like it feels like you're connecting with the audience in a different way.
05:39Again, because it's been around for so long, the record.
05:42I just feel very honored to be on the record.
05:45No, it's so it's so true.
05:47Transcends generations.
05:48What else do we think?
05:49Like when we're 90, what do you think from our generation will still be around?
05:55Um, that's a good question.
05:57I think maybe that's a really good question.
06:00I just thought of one.
06:01I think iPhone.
06:02I think it'll be iPhone 97, but it'll still be around.
06:05Oh, you're talking about anything, not just music.
06:07Anything.
06:08Yeah, absolutely.
06:10Cars.
06:10We'll have flying cars.
06:11We'll have cars.
06:12But I'm so confident, of course.
06:14But like, yeah, in our, yeah, in our lifetime, we'll have flying cars.
06:18I think we're going to teleport.
06:19You know, I love talking about the future.
06:21I just spoke at this convention with, you know, the former president of Columbia about AI.
06:28And we were just talking about AI and how it's affecting, you know, even musicians right now.
06:32And that we need to figure out how to compensate, you know, musicians and producers and engineers.
06:37And there's a lot of things that the law is not ready for right now.
06:40Instagram will probably still be around.
06:42People love, people love posting.
06:43Um, I saw you posting something for rehearsals.
06:46What are you working on right now?
06:47What can we get ready for?
06:48So I'm performing at the ARIA Awards in Australia.
06:51I'm really excited about that.
06:53Um, I'm going to be doing a medley of Spotify,
06:55Sweet but Psycho, Kings and Queens and ending it with Forever Young.
06:58Um, so I have a lot of exciting things coming up, um, on stage there that I've kind of created
07:04visually.
07:05You ever been to Australia?
07:06Yeah, I have amazing.
07:08But a while ago.
07:09So I'm excited to go for four nights this time.
07:11Not two nights.
07:13You know, that sounds awful for that flight for two days.
07:17I know, but I was just in Korea for 48 hours.
07:20And, you know, I, it's quick, but I don't recording studio the plane.
07:25I don't get jet lag.
07:26Really?
07:26Is that weird?
07:27I don't know.
07:28I'm like, I feel like a bit of like a, I don't know, weirdo.
07:32You just time doesn't exist with you.
07:33You're just present.
07:35Yeah, I'm just present.
07:38Perfect.
07:38Well, thanks for letting us know what you've been up to.
07:40I mean, what can you let your fans in before we wrap?
07:42Like, um, what to expect and what to look forward to as the new singles and album are
07:46on the way.
07:47Just look out for new music because it is coming a lot.
07:51Thanks so much for the time.
07:52And hopefully see you here in studio soon.
07:54Yes.
07:55See you, Ava.
07:56Bye.
