00:00You will rush to the world only if the world is seen as different from God.
00:11If you can see that the world is actually only an extension of God, then two things
00:25will happen.
00:26Please pay attention to these two things.
00:39If you look at someone's hand and find it beautiful, charming, the skin has a certain
01:01purity, a certain radiance, don't you feel like looking at that person's face?
01:15The world is the extended hand of God.
01:21If you are really intelligent, then you will say that if the hand is so beautiful, how
01:29beautiful will be the face?
01:32Are you getting it?
01:37If the hand is so beautiful, if the extension is so beautiful, how beautiful would be the
01:42center?
01:43How beautiful would be the eyes, the face?
01:47That is the approach of the religious man.
01:51That is how he relates to the world.
01:54The world is the extended hand of God.
02:00So will he shun the world, will he spit at the world, will he renounce the world?
02:07And will he be attached to the world?
02:09The hand is so beautiful, can you renounce it?
02:13Come on please, the hand is so beautiful, do you renounce beauty?
02:20And the hand is so beautiful, will you get attached to it or would you rather move to
02:23the face?
02:25So the approach of the real man, the wise man towards world is neither of renunciation
02:35nor of attachment.
02:38The world is beautiful as an extension of God.
02:41You say, oh, if the world is so beautiful, how beautiful would be the center of this
02:46world, the source of this world?
02:48If the hand is so beautiful, how beautiful would be the center, the face?
02:55So the world then is Shakti, the world then is the Mother Goddess, the world then is Kali.
03:05Yes, and the center of Shakti is Shiv.
03:14The world is an extension of Shiv in the form of Shakti.
03:18What you see spread all around yourself is nothing but Shiva in his dance.
03:25Shiv when he is dancing is Shakti, Shakti is nothing but Shiv in motion.
03:30When Shiv is in motion, he is called Shakti and Ramakrishna was a worshipper of Shakti.
03:39When you are worshipping Shakti, you are worshipping nothing else but Shiv.
03:45If the face is somehow not available for you to be seen, you may as well worship the hand.
03:53Let's say the face is hidden for some reason.
03:55Let's say your eyes cannot look at the face.
04:00Then it would not be improper to worship the hand.
04:08So when you are worshipping the world as mother, when you are worshipping woman as mother,
04:13you are actually worshipping Shiv, truth.
04:17You are saying, oh, if your creation can be so beautiful, how beautiful would you be?
04:25Are you getting it?
04:26And that is why when Ramakrishna would come across a lady, he would simply say mother.
04:36Are you getting it?
04:36By mother he meant Shakti.
04:43Do you really require to test and touch every grain of sand on the beach?
04:55You just pick up whatever can be contained in your palm and you look at it and it's golden,
05:07it's shining, it's pure, it's fine.
05:12And you say, wow, what a beach, what lovely sand.
05:16Now have you tested each and every single grain?
05:20You haven't.
05:20Right?
05:21So you look at the immensity in one grain.
05:27Similarly, when you look at a woman and call her Ma, Shakti,
05:37you are looking at the entire expanse of Shakti in one individual, which is alright, which is beautiful.
05:45Please understand what Ramakrishna is doing when he is prostrating to a woman.
05:53Even when he would come across a young girl, he would call her Ma and bow to her.
06:04What is he doing?
06:05He is prostrating to one grain of sand as a representative of the entire vast expanse of the beach.
06:15Which is great, which is just right.
06:20Are you getting it?
06:22He is seeing in her the entire creation just as you can see in one grain of sand,
06:31the entire sands of the world.
06:36Are you getting it?
06:37And when you are worshipping the sands, you are worshipping the source from where the sands come.
06:46Do you see how it is two-layered?
06:50When you bow to one individual lady, a woman, you are bowing to all that which has been created,
07:01all that which exists as manifested.
07:05The woman is not one woman, but all women.
07:09The woman is not only all women, but also all men.
07:16The woman is not only all human beings, but also all animals and vegetation.
07:23The woman is not only all sentient beings, but also the rivers, the mountains.
07:29The woman is not only all things upon this planet, but actually the entire universe.
07:36Do you see how it is circle after circle?
07:39Concentrate.
07:40So by bowing to one woman, Ramakrishna is actually saluting the entire universe.
07:52And when he is saluting the universe, he is saluting the hand of God.
08:01You can get attached only if you think that the world shop offers you what the God shop does not offer.
08:10One is not a fool to be attached.
08:12One gets attached only in anticipation, only when you have hopes.
08:18Remember that you never go to a woman, you go to your hope.
08:24Once you realize that your hope is false, then would you still continue going to that woman?
08:31You are going to the wrong shop.
08:34You have a particular desire, you want to be fulfilled, but you are going to the wrong shop.
08:40And that is why you are being cheated again and again.
08:45But one requires to be blessed to gain wisdom even after being repeatedly cheated.
08:52Otherwise, if the shadow of foolishness is there on the mind, then one will get cheated
08:58a thousand times and still be prepared to be cheated once again.
09:03Strange are these ways.
09:05You will say, if one has been cheated a thousand times, why would he want to be cheated once more?
09:11But such is the story of humanity all around us.
09:15We fall in the same snare a thousand times.
09:22We fall to the same tendencies a thousand times.
09:29Don't we?
09:29You will say, no, no, no, we are intelligent people, you see.
09:38Yes, we do get trapped, but it's a fresh trap every time.
09:41No, it's not a fresh trap.
09:53Hope is a very dangerous
09:55animal.
10:00It can make you do the most stupid things.
10:03It can make you fall in the same trap a million times.
10:10It can make you do the most foolish of things.
10:12Hope.
