00:00The Philippine ships that carry out the resupply mission in the West Philippine Sea were again targeted by the Chinese ships.
00:08The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources's airplane was also hit by a laser three times.
00:15This is what Ryan Leziguez has reported.
00:22For the Philippines to have a better presence in the West Philippine Sea,
00:26the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources's airplane, BIFAR, once again carried out a Domain Awareness Flight.
00:32According to PTV News, the first routine patrol was carried out in the area of Pagasa Island on September 26.
00:40However, the BIFAR airplane that we are currently flying is not completely far away.
00:44The two Chinese ships were immediately hit.
00:47The first was the Chinese Coast Guard with the number 5202.
00:51The next was the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, or PLAN, 25 nautical miles away from the coastline of Palawan.
01:02We are only 15 nautical miles away from the coastline of Palawan,
01:06but several Chinese ships were hit at the same time by the BIFAR maritime patrol,
01:11including one CCG ship and one Chinese warship.
01:16The next day, September 27, the BIFAR continued its maritime patrol.
01:23Past 7 in the morning, the small BIFAR airplane left the mainland of Palawan, as reported by PTV News.
01:31The target for this day is Iroquois Reef and Hasa-Hasa Shoal.
01:35However, 30 nautical miles away from the coastline of Palawan,
01:39the CCG 5202 and PLAN 551 were hit again.
01:44They were in a line formation, as if they are not leaving the area.
01:48You are inside the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of the Philippines.
01:54At just 30 nautical miles west of the Palawan mainland.
02:02Publish your intention inside the Philippines Exclusive Economic Zone.
02:07The BIFAR sent a radio challenge, but there was no response from the Chinese ships.
02:12Past 8 in the morning, when the BIFAR arrived at Iroquois Reef,
02:17more than 20 Chinese militia vessels and one Chinese warship were hit.
02:23The BIFAR's BRP Datu Bangkawo and BRP Datu Pagbuhaya
02:30were surrounded and as if they were being watched by the Chinese.
02:34This is the 2nd day of the maritime patrol of the BIFAR plane.
02:39We are here at the part of Iroquois Reef, where the two BIFAR ships are located.
02:44At this time, they are still on their way to Krudo.
02:49While they are patrolling, they are being surrounded by Chinese militia vessels.
02:56Aside from the Chinese militia vessels around them,
03:00there is also a Chinese warship nearby.
03:04But despite the fact that the Chinese ships are not counted,
03:08the BIFAR ships are still patrolling Krudo.
03:17Iroquois Reef is located at the southern end of the BRP Datu Bangkawo,
03:21where many Chinese deposits were lost.
03:24Past 12 o'clock, when the BIFAR plane arrived,
03:28the part of Hasa-Hasa Shoal, where the resupply mission will also take place,
03:33the two BIFAR ships, BRP Datu Romapenet and BRP Datu Daradapit.
03:38But if in Iroquois Reef, the Chinese ships are surrounded by the small Philippine ships,
03:44the situation in Hasa-Hasa Shoal is different.
03:47Because it seems that the Philippine ships are patrolling the Chinese warships.
03:54We are 10 nautical miles away from the Hasa-Hasa Shoal,
03:56the destination of the maritime patrol and the resupply mission of the two BIFAR ships.
04:01But for now, as you can see, the two BIFAR ships are being surrounded by the Chinese missiles.
04:08Those are three missiles ships that are forced to chase the Philippine ships.
04:13And aside from that, there is also a Chinese Coast Guard chasing the two BIFAR ships.
04:19The BIFAR ships were just attacked after the BIFAR plane that we are driving was radio-challenged.
04:26But not only the BIFAR ships were surrounded by the missiles ships of China,
04:30the BIFAR plane was also hit by a laser three times where the PTV News reported.
04:37Navy, Missile, you are endangering our safety. Do not fire laser on our aircraft.
04:46According to a security analyst, it is alarming and unexpected what the Chinese missile ships are doing.
04:53It shows the strength and power of China.
04:56I think this is a provocation and their laser on our aircraft is not only done to us,
05:05but it is also done to big countries like Australia and the US.
05:11And we saw that their grazion tactics are still being done to us.
05:21For example, their flares on the Himpapavid.
05:29This is not new.
05:32But at the same time, of course, we are still seeing their grazion tactics.
05:38It could be possible that this is their way to attack our own territory.
05:44It is also not allowed to tolerate the harassment of China
05:48because it will result in violence between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea.
05:55They will send missile ships here in the West Philippine Sea.
06:00We do not tolerate this.
06:02This is unacceptable
06:04because we believe that the rules-based order should be more strict in our seas.
06:11And at the same time, there are many civilians who pass through our own seas
06:19and we need to protect them and not to be afraid of them.
06:24The National Maritime Council, or NMC,
06:27said that the presence and pursuit of Philippine ships
06:31is just a part of the humanitarian mission.
06:34The missile is one of their capabilities.
06:39Of course, it is faster and it is aimed.
06:43But I doubt that they will use it on civilians.
06:46It is just intimidation on their part.
06:50So what they are doing there is more like they are provoking us.
06:55They want to tell us that this is not true.
06:59We are the only ones who have the right to patrol there.
07:02We are the only ones who have the right to sail in that area.
07:07Meanwhile, there are also people who own houses and other structures in Subi Reef.
07:13The number of ships and airstrips is less in Mischief Reef.
07:17Ryan Lizigas for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
