Le premier Slovène champion du monde a attaqué à plius de 100 kilomètres de l'arrivée, revenant sur les échappées puis réalisant un raid solitaire de 50 kilomètres pour s'imposer avec 30 secondes d'avance sur Ben O'Connor (Australie).
