00:00Andy Dalton gets the job.
00:07There's so many different starting points we could have here, fellas.
00:10I'll just go to you first, LeeCee.
00:12The decision to actually bench Bryce Young through two weeks, what'd you make of it?
00:16I thought it was good. And again, I'm a Bryce Young backer.
00:19I thought he was deserving of being the top pick a couple years ago, but has not looked like that.
00:23Pocket presence, the poise, the confidence in the scheme, completely lacking.
00:28Donnie and Kev, the numbers back it up, 55% completion percentage, no touchdowns, three interceptions.
00:34He's taking sacks, doesn't know where to go with the football, Donnie.
00:37Again, I'm hoping that this is a re-run.
00:40Allow Andy Dalton to play one, two, or three games.
00:43Allow Bryce Young to see from the sidelines.
00:46Allow him to regain his confidence and then implement him in the middle of the regular season.
00:51If he doesn't perform then, Donnie, then you have to move on.
00:54Then he's not the franchise guy.
00:56Professionalism about being a professional in just a moment, but also keep in mind, it's about that locker room.
01:01It's not just the quarterback's team here.
01:03There's 55 guys in there that say, I'm going to show up tomorrow.
01:06We have no chance to win because you're playing this quarterback.
01:08What happens if this was me as a quarterback and I just kept getting blitzed and blitzed and blitzed
01:12and I couldn't even catch it, you know, just running straight down the sideline?
01:15But also, looking at Andy Dalton, it's not as if he's 24 years old.
01:20You benched your franchise guy to go to a guy who's never going to be your franchise guy.
01:25So, again, I know that this Panther stuff.
01:28So I think benching him as well is a good decision.
01:33Because I think Carolina needs to be honest with themselves finally.
01:38They are in the worst spot that this league has to offer by a lot.
01:42There is arguably zero blue chip talents on this roster.
01:46You would argue Derrick Brown.
01:48Well, he tore his ACL. He's not playing this year.
01:50We'll see what the player is when he comes back.
01:52You can like J.C. Horn all you want.
01:54But he's not taking off the way some of the other younger corner halves immediately.
01:57Sauce Gardeners and Derrick Stingley's of the world.
01:59I like J.C. Horn just fine.
02:01But, again, I don't know if we're sold that he's going to be an all-pro, pro-bowl level guy.
02:05The offensive line, nothing to speak of.
02:07Jonathan Brooks hasn't made an NFL debut.
02:10The wide receiver room, again, people keep lying to themselves.
02:14Oh, we fixed this wide receiver room.
02:15No, you did not.
02:16You got the second best wide receiver out of Pittsburgh.
02:19Adam Thielen is very old at this point here and was a No. 3 hang-on in Minnesota.
02:24And Xavier Leguette was the 5th, 6th, 7th wide receiver drafted this past year.
02:30It is a nightmare situation.
02:32So you do not need to let the kid go out there and bury himself.
02:36What Carolina did is unique.
02:39It is different.
02:40It is willing to take a risk.
02:43Where I think they will inevitably mess this up is follow suit with what everybody else believes.
02:49We benched him.
02:50We're done with him.
02:51We'll trade him.
02:53And we'll wipe our hands with this situation.
02:55Why?
02:56I do not understand why Carolina needs to rush away from the Bryce Young era.
03:03What is the rush?
03:05I agree with you.
03:06I think potentially he could be that guy.
03:08I'll draw two situations out, okay?
03:10Number one is we saw this with Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer, right?
03:13Urban Meyer was not the coach to really get the most out of Trevor Lawrence.
03:17He lasted half a season.
03:19And Trevor Lawrence suffered.
03:20Once Doug Peterson came there, he elevated his game.
03:23He took the team to a playoff win over L.A.
03:26And now Trevor Lawrence is one of the higher paid quarterbacks in the league, right?
03:31And a starting quarterback that is much better now than where he was when he first came into the league.
03:37I don't know if Bryce Young was sort of handcuffed by Frank Reich's system last year.
03:43Frank Reich openly came out and said, I want him to run my scheme.
03:48I want him to understand and run it my way.
03:51As opposed to developing a game plan around Bryce Young's strengths.
03:55And I think that's where NFL coaches get hard-headed sometimes, Donnie, right?
04:00It's got to be my way or no way.
04:02If you're drafting a guy and you know he's not good on their center,
04:05why put him on their center?
04:06Put him in the shotgun the way he was in college.
04:08So I think that hampered him.
04:10The problem that I see with Bryce Young now, forget the stats,
04:14it's him in the pocket, him in terms of the huddle.
04:17He doesn't even look like he wants to be there, Donnie.
04:20Here's the issue, too.
04:22Number one overall pick.
04:23It's not like it's his fifth year, right?
04:25Oh, we got to make an option on him.
04:26Here's also the key.
04:27It's a guaranteed contract, number one overall.
04:29So if you are the Carolina Panthers, why are you in a rush anyway?
04:32Now, I think he's going to be back under center this year.
04:34You have to do that.
04:35Otherwise, it's going to be completely shot.
04:37But to the point of let's trade him for a conditional seventh round pick
04:42when we're going to get crushed on the cap with doing that.
04:44And what's the point of that anyway?
04:46You might as well just keep him there for two, three, four years.
04:48Even if he's not your quarter, you already paid him the money.
04:51And if it works out, if it doesn't, so be it.
04:54Can I just say one more thing?
04:55I agree.
04:56In terms of talent, I know the cupboard is bare, right?
04:59But there's slightly, and listen to my words,
05:02slightly more talent from an offensive than New England, right?
05:06I mean, I'm just saying.
05:08Stevenson is like so much better than.
05:11But I'm talking in terms of weapons on the outside, right?
05:13They're comparable.
05:15They're comparable.
05:16Okay, so what's the point then that you're making?
05:18Well, my point, I'm just saying in terms of,
05:20my point is I agree with you the weapons aren't there
05:23in terms of his development.
05:24But he still hasn't shown the right looks in trying to go with the football.
05:28He hasn't, he doesn't, he always stares down receivers, number one.
05:32And when the pocket is there, he doesn't step up and extend plays.
05:36He takes sacks.
05:37He's bad.
05:38He's really bad.
05:39He stares down the defenders.
