00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at the 10 games you ought
00:08to be playing with your headset on at all times. Before we begin we publish
00:18new videos all week long so be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays and ring the
00:22bell to be notified about our latest videos. The Call of Duty series.
00:33Given how frequently we get a new Call of Duty game it can be hard to
00:37appreciate what the games do really well and regardless of which studio helms the
00:41next one every game manages to nail the sound design. The heft and power of each
00:46gun can be heard with every shot plus with headphones you can hear the
00:51confirmation cues of hits and kills better. If you got the TV speakers to
00:56help you play better more power to you but with headphones you get a better
01:00sense of when you're hitting your target.
01:10Alien Isolation.
01:15We aren't recommending you play Alien Isolation with headphones just because
01:22of jump scares. We aren't even recommending it for loud noises or the
01:26music. No, what makes Alien Isolation scarier with headphones is the ambience.
01:32The lack of active noises being made in most rooms. It's enough to make you keep
01:37your guard up. Once you hear noises you'll know it's time to start hiding
01:41in lockers and underneath desks. Besides, you'll be kept in suspense longer until
01:46you hear your pursuer finally start to walk away. Good thing there's no mic
01:50detection in this game.
01:58Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice.
02:06For those who really do want to submerge themselves in the role of a video game
02:11protagonist, Hellblade is definitely a game where headphones are required to
02:15reach that level of immersion. This is a game that will really get inside your
02:19head as you bear witness to Senua's experiences. With headphones you'll hear
02:24every noise she hears in addition to the voices that are constantly berating her
02:28with conflicting feelings. It adds another layer to Hellblade's madness
02:32that only further emphasizes the horrors of psychosis.
02:41Tekken 8.
02:57Whereas most of our entries give headphones more of a mechanical or
03:01competitive edge, we're highlighting Tekken 8 purely on feeling. Tekken 8 is
03:06just way more exhilarating to play when you have your best headset on. Every
03:11punch and kick sounds more impactful, and the kick-ass music blasting in your
03:16ears will get you pumped for every match. If you already have a good sound system
03:21for your TV and prefer it that way, then cool, you do you. But if you want to
03:26immerse yourself in the fights and get that adrenaline really pumping out, plug
03:31those headphones in and get ready for the next battle. Dead by Daylight.
03:46For a survivor player, headphones are more of a luxury than anything else. You
03:51can easily tell when the killer is approaching if you already use the
03:54visual heartbeat. So the only use headphones are really good for is
03:58countering whatever killers might be packing perks or add-ons that grant
04:02undetectable, since you can hear their footsteps. For killer players, however,
04:06headphones are a borderline necessity. Dead by Daylight contains some sounds
04:11that can help you track survivors closer. Wander around an area and you might hear
04:16a survivor breathing heavily or an injured survivor muffling their grunts
04:19and moans from inside a locker, or because they're using something like
04:23Iron Will. You'll even be able to hear footsteps clearer than a set of TV
04:27speakers could, so all you killer players might want to consider buying a
04:31set of headphones or earbuds if you haven't already.
04:38Fortnite.
04:44Most of us who are playing Fortnite are probably already using the visual radius
04:49to help detect enemy players. At that point, why even bother using a headset at
04:54all? Well, headphones grant you an edge a visual radius never can, positional audio.
04:59Fortnite makes every enemy player's footsteps loud enough to where you can
05:04better pinpoint where exactly they may be. This will allow you to possibly
05:08ambush them before they can figure out where you are. You can also get a better
05:12sense of where gunfights are happening and how far they may be from you than
05:16what the compass indicates.
05:19Gran Turismo 7.
05:29Every Gran Turismo player would know why anyone would recommend headphones when
05:35playing a game from this series, especially Gran Turismo 7. Developer
05:39Polyphony Digital has been somewhat notorious, in a good way, for being
05:43meticulous when developing the next Gran Turismo. Part of their process is
05:48capturing every distinct sound you could hear at a motorsports event. Every car's
05:53engine sounds exactly as they would be in real life. Every track replicates the
05:57same audio levels and ambience as they do in the real world. Every I is dotted,
06:02every T is crossed, and every sound comes out just the way it should to fully
06:07immerse you in this virtual world of motorsports. Trust us, GT7 is totally
06:13different when played with the best headphones you have.
06:19Red Dead Redemption 2.
06:33Rockstar can be just as meticulous in developing games as Polyphony can be, but
06:38it's to a point where some may call it egregious. Those that appreciate sound
06:42design, on the other hand, will find plenty to love when playing Red Dead 2
06:46with headphones. Between the noisy gunfights and cowboys hollering, you'll
06:50be able to hear every sound of nature. The birds whistling, the snakes hissing,
06:55other predators crawling around, the wind blowing against bushes and trees. It all
07:00comes alive in such a way that it's like you're enjoying the great outdoors.
07:03Just with AC, and none of the moments where Mother Nature nearly kills you.
07:10Dead Space.
07:24We know we've raved about Dead Space so many times across a multitude of videos,
07:29but this remake of the 2008 original is absolutely one of the best horror games
07:34to play with headphones. If you're someone who is a bit skittish, though, it
07:38might be in your best interest to sit this one out. Dead Space has so many
07:42subtle and sudden noises that will keep you on edge throughout your playthrough.
07:46The sound of metal creaking and grates banging out of the floor and ceiling
07:50will jolt even the most strong-willed players. At least you'll be able to tell
07:55when a necromorph is sneaking up behind you this time.
08:02God of War.
08:08While Ragnarok does have some pretty solid sound design, there was something
08:16truly special about the 2018 God of War. When played with Sony's own headset, the
08:21big, cushy, expensive one, the realm of Midgard came to life. Every blow Kratos
08:27dealt sounded more vicious than before. The ambiance of each world had their own
08:31distinct atmosphere, with rhythms of noises you wouldn't hear in the other
08:35realms, and Odin's damn birds were a lot easier to find once you heard their dumb
08:39claws. The sound design here was just far too magical to not play with headphones,
08:45and if you played through the whole game without them, you kind of missed out. But
08:50what's a game you feel is best played while wearing headphones? Did it make our
08:53list? Share with us in the comments below, and don't forget to subscribe to Mojo
