00:00Hi, we're here at Sedgley. It's the first Sedgley Scout Festival coming up this weekend,
00:05starting on Friday night at 5. It raises lots of funds for the charities in Sedgley. It's
00:12put on each year by the first Sedgley Scout Group. This is David Boar, who is the chairman
00:16of the festival, and he's going to tell us why it's such a great thing for the Sedgley
00:20community. Well, it's a great community event. All the local folks come along and enjoy great
00:26music, great beer. We've got gins, rums, ciders. We've got something for everyone.
00:33And you've got 36 real ales this year? 36 real ales, and lots of revelers coming.
00:39And you've got live music? Live music, yeah. Over the last nine years,
00:45we've raised over £90,000 for local charities and the Scout Association.
00:50And you've got a gin bar as well, and ciders. Ciders, and a few rums thrown in for good measure.
00:58Jolly good. We'll look forward to it. Dave, any particular interesting beers you're quite
01:03looking forward to hosting? Well, we're privileged that we're being
01:07sponsored by Anvil Ales, Hobsons, and Ludlow Gold. So Ludlow Gold is lovely. We've got
01:21Anvil Ginger, and we've got Anvil, normal Anvil Ale, and we've got the Anvil Gothic,
01:28which is one of their new beers. I was going to say, I've not come across the Gothic.
01:31Gothic has ginger. It's their stout with ginger in it. Have you tried that yet then?
01:38Yeah, we have had it before in Sedgley. It's a nice drink, yeah? Yeah, it's very nice.
01:43And obviously the local Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild. They've won awards, haven't they?
01:48That's the Beacon pub just down the way. So I guess when we get to winter,
01:53you start getting winter ales, so you start getting the more stouty, darker ales, don't you?
01:57We have about six stouts, but the ones that sell best are the pale hoppy beers.
02:03Those are the ones that we sell the most of. We have some from the Twisted Spire,
02:09which is a Hobsons one. I think it's 3.4 or 3.5 if somebody's just having a load,
02:14right up to the Ruby Mild, which is 6 point something.
02:17So we've mentioned some lovely beers. If I was going to buy you a pack of beer for Christmas,
02:22what would be in there? Give me a couple of shout outs of what you like to have a tipple of at home.
02:26Well, I mean, I'll go far wrong with the Anvil. I've had the Anvil Ginger and the Anvil Ale
02:34and the normal Anvil Porter. I had those at my daughter's wedding last weekend.
02:40Ah, fantastic.
02:41So those would probably be two or three of my favourites.
02:44Have you switched your daughter on to an ale?
02:46Yes, she quite likes, she loves the Anvil Ginger.
02:49Does she? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:51Fantastic, great. And these are all chilling now, aren't they?
02:54Yes, these are all chilling ready and we'll probably tap and vent them tomorrow
02:58and put the taps in and then just see how they're getting along.
03:03Is that straightforward, putting the taps in, or is that where you get all pear-shaped and you end up with...
03:07Well, yeah, we just vent them off at the top here and then we put the taps in the splines here.
03:13Got you. Ready for pouring.
03:15Great stuff. Well, enjoy the festival, mate. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun.
03:18It will be. Thank you.
03:21Cheers!
