00:00Malaysian companies should avoid trying to compete directly with Chinese firms.
00:06Instead, a business leader said it should collaborate with them under China's Belt and Road Initiative.
00:12Tang Zhe Nian, president of the Malaysia Guangdong Chamber of Commerce,
00:16said local companies will face big challenges competing with Chinese businesses
00:20in manufacturing, technology and new energy sectors.
00:24Tang said Chinese companies are leading in these fields,
00:28mainly because of their large domestic market,
00:30while the Chinese government is dedicated to helping them compete internationally.
00:35To ultimately lead to win-win outcomes,
00:37he said Malaysian companies should complement the efforts of Chinese companies,
00:41which introduced high-tech innovations and advanced technologies.
00:45He called on Malaysian companies to play to the country's strengths in resources with great potential,
00:51such as palm oil, durian and other natural resources.
00:55Tang also suggested forming strategic partnerships with Chinese officials and businesses
01:00to encourage technology transfer, training and create opportunities for Malaysians to study in China.
