00:00A greeting to all present and a special thank you to the University of the Studies Federico II of Naples and to the consortium of protection of the mozzarella of Bufala Campana d'Op
00:14for the invitation to this important event for our agri-food compartment.
00:19I can be with you because this morning we are discussing in Ortigia, Syracuse,
00:24topics that concern the agricultural development model with the president of the agricultural commission of the European Parliament
00:32together with the president of the environmental commission and many MPs to reason together on what unites us
00:40rather than on what divides us on the future of the agricultural model
00:43and also on the extraordinary role of farmers as guardians of the territory.
00:51We will also have other topics, some of which will obviously concern the production system of milk and cheese in the coming days
01:01and many other occasions of meetings.
01:04Fortunately, in Italy there are many moments of meeting and meeting to talk once again about agriculture, farming and research that travel together.
01:14This makes me deeply satisfied with the work that we as a ministry are also accompanying.
01:20We return to make central what is our primary productive sector, our entrepreneurs, our companies, our research and development model.
01:27The buffalo mozzarella Campana DOP is not only a product of excellence recognized all over the world,
01:34it is also the first DOP brand by importance in central-southern Italy and the third among Italian DOP cheeses.
01:41A symbol of Made in Italy that expresses a chain capable of uniting tradition, quality and innovation.
01:47With a turnover of 750 million euros in consumption in 2022 and a certified production that has reached 55.6 million kilograms,
01:56it is evident how our mozzarella is not only appreciated at the national level,
02:019 out of 10 Italians have consumed it in the last year, but also internationally.
02:0540% of the production is destined abroad, with France, Germany, Spain and Great Britain,
02:10which alone represent more than 60% of the export.
02:14This product has its roots in a territory of extraordinary natural and cultural richness,
02:20where the link with the environment is particularly present.
02:24The DOP, which includes 3 national parks, Cerceo, Cilento and Gargano, and 10 regional parks,
02:30is a clear testimony to this, with more than 1,300 farms engaged in the production cycle of the buffalo mozzarella Campana DOP,
02:37which work daily to enhance our local communities.
02:41Italian agriculture, and in particular the dairy and dairy sector,
02:44has a strategic role in promoting a sustainable socio-economic development
02:49based on respect for the environment and the enhancement of territories.
02:53Initiatives such as this conference are essential to strengthen the dialogue between research, business and territory,
03:00and pave the way to put our food sovereignty at the centre of the global debate.
