01:40Ipinangkakaloob ang gawad CCP para sa sining, sining ng teatro kay Maria Lea Carmen Imutang Salonga.
02:10I as an artist in this ephemeral art form, I don't work alone. I just take the trophy home and look at them. I look at the awards and I'm incredibly grateful.
02:24But a career like mine would not be possible without a village, without a support system, without the people who are actively behind me.
02:38It is a host of musical directors, inclusive of national artist Ranika Iyab, my younger brother Gerard Salonga, so many other wonderful musicians that I've had only the greatest of privileges to work with over the years spanning my career, 47 years and counting.
02:57And I still want, thank God, a host of directors, beginning with Zenaida Amador, who had two words for me when I first met her, two words that would pretty much remain a compass for how I do my work.
03:18Number one is discipline. Number two is truth. The other is Baby Barendo, whose exacting ear was incredibly demanding of anyone doing a musical where she happened to be at the helm as musical director.
03:37And my brother once said to me, after a particularly scathing review from Tita Baby, he said, very wisely, she says those things to you, this is in retrospect, she says those things because one, she knows you can handle it, and two, she knows you can do better.
04:01So to these first two mentors, who are no longer with us, allow me to say thank you for starting me on a path where it began at the CCP, as said in the introduction, and the CCP has been home for quite a few reasons and productions.
04:22I also would like to heartfully thank my family, my mother, Ligaya Salonga, who is well known in this industry as a force of nature.
04:36See, that you are laughing says so much. Someone who is formidable, strong, you may call her overprotective, but given a lot of news and revelations coming out within the industry, I am thankful that she was as strict as she was, and that she was as protective as she was.
05:00I am thankful to my friends, some of whom are actually here in the house, who have kept me sane, laughing, shoulders to cry on, whether for professional or personal reasons.
05:18I want to thank my younger brother, who is not only a member of my family, but is my comrade, my foremost collaborator.
05:30I want to thank all of the collaborators, past and present, that I've gotten to work with, every single actor, actress, in any role that they've gotten to play.
05:41And I want to thank my fans, because without you, this career would not be possible. Thank you.
05:48Thank you. And as for the future of me as an actor in this ephemeral art form, with this around my neck, Joey's never going to take this off, this is wonderful to receive.
06:04But it certainly does not mean that the career ends. It only means that we must continue, as artists, in truth and in discipline, to continue to create, to continue to entertain, and hopefully, in service of our country, be able to make everybody happy. Thank you.
