00:06Islamic nation comes calling to pay you a visit and renew the bonds of friendship and bilateral

00:12ties. And the president was more than glad to oblige earlier today as he received president-elect

00:18Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia as our Kenneth Paciente reports.

00:23Stronger relationship between Indonesia and the Philippines. That's what President Ferdinand R.

00:30Marcos Jr. and Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto concurred in during the

00:35latter's courtesy call at Malacanang. According to the president, Subianto's visit to the

00:39Philippines is a huge deal as it only shows the stronger cooperation between the two countries.

00:45I think it bodes well for our two countries that you have come to visit with the Philippines

00:51and that shows that the growing relationship between our two countries which has been

00:58at a very strong level for many, many years at many, many aspects on the people-to-people,

01:06on the political, on the diplomatic. The chief executive is confident that

01:12under Subianto's leadership, the relationship between the Philippines and Indonesia will grow

01:17even more. We are about to celebrate our 75th year of relations this November and I think

01:25your visit here today will certainly bring a new impetus to making that relationship between

01:33Indonesia and the Philippines stronger and deeper. The Indonesian president-elect thanked

01:39the president for welcoming him, assuring the Philippines can expect Indonesia's support in

01:44strengthening various aspects for a multilateral development of both countries.

01:49Perhaps it's the Asian way, our custom before we enter into a new

01:58position, we call on our friends to reconfirm my commitment to strengthen

02:17the close relationship that we have traditionally between the Philippines and Indonesia.

02:28We have common roots, cultural, historical, and by the fact that we are very close

02:41neighbors, it behooves us I think to always support each other and to

02:53work together closely in all fields. Subianto is set to succeed former

02:59Indonesian president Joko Widodo as the president of Indonesia in October

03:04after winning the elections and gaining 59% of the total votes.
