00:00Welcome to Telus for English.
00:06The second edition of the International Telecommunications Fair was inaugurated in Venezuela with the
00:11participation of more than 200 national and international exhibitors.
00:16In this context, we are joined now live by our correspondent Gladys Quezada.
00:20Hello, Gladys.
00:21Tell us the latest from this technological fair taking place in the country.
00:27Yes, thanks for the time and the contact here and from the south and this opportunity to
00:32inform our audiences about what is going on in Venezuela.
00:35And right now, this is the second edition of Fidel Ven.
00:39This is the fair of telecommunications here in Caracas.
00:44And this event gathers 118 national companies of telecommunications, and those companies
00:51come from the private and the public sector.
00:54The objective, the main goal, is to find integration and fusion among these companies
00:59and also to find better solutions for telecommunications and to benefit the people of Venezuela.
01:05Also, I have to say that one of the main goals is to engage in 5G communications and to have
01:12better internet services for all Venezuela.
01:15Also, yesterday, the president of the National Telecommunications Commission, CONATEL, here
01:21in Venezuela, and Jorge Marquez, he was given the opening ceremony and the opening statements.
01:29And he was stating that back in 2017, Venezuela had only 0.03% of connection.
01:37And right now, it exceeds 200% in that figure.
01:41That's to say 12% of terabytes in connection in the internet speed.
01:46So that's an improvement.
01:47Also, in the first edition of this fair, this event, back in 2023, they had 103 exponents
01:57and people that came here to showcase their products and their companies.
02:01But right now, there are 118.
02:03Also, I wanted to say this is not just a place to display the services and the products.
02:10It's also a way to do businesses, negotiations, and also that the firms and the companies
02:17that are coming in here are offering masterclasses.
02:20So today, for example, they gave a masterclass regarding artificial intelligence and the
02:27applications of that in marketing and the health sector.
02:31Also, today, there will be other conferences regarding hardware options and how to improve
02:39connectivity here in Venezuela and how to bring up better connectivity to other countries
02:45that are partners of Venezuela, and that's to say the Caribbean.
02:50So that's the main information.
02:52This is the first day with opening doors.
02:56And yesterday, there were a closed door opening ceremony.
03:00But the event is going to be held until Saturday, September 21st.
03:05So those are the options.
03:07And it is expected also that high-level officials here in Venezuela come to the fair to see
03:12the development of the expositions and the development of the commerce, conferences,
03:17and trade negotiations.
03:19So that's the information so far.
03:22That's what is going on in Venezuela.
03:23This is the main event in technology.
03:25We have here holograms.
03:27We have connectivity.
03:28We have artificial intelligence and virtual reality, all of that in the benefit of the
03:34Venezuelan people.
03:35So, so far, that's the information.
03:37So now, back to you.
03:40Thank you, Gladys.
03:41We'll continue to contact you for more updates throughout the day.
