Reporter Kirsty Hamilton visited Millhouses in Sheffield to find out what makes it such a desirable area to live.

00:00Mill Houses is one of Sheffield's most expensive areas for properties but also
00:05one of the most desirable. The demand is clear with houses being bought within
00:09days of hitting the market and even the former Abbeydale Grange School was
00:13redeveloped into housing. But what is it that makes it such an attractive place
00:17to live? Well there's three pubs, the Mill Houses pub, the Robin Hood and the
00:22Robin Horses, all of which serve food and gorgeous beer gardens. Abbeydale Road and
00:28Abbeydale Road South both have a stretch of shops and amenities from takeaways to
00:32pet supplies. Here you can send your packages at the post office, take your
00:37poorly pets to the vets, have a makeover at the hairdressers and just a short
00:42walk away are a number of large supermarkets, McDonald's and a pure gym
00:46at the Archer Road complex. There's also restaurants and cafes such as Mealfish
00:52and Crumb where you can grab a bite to eat. Unlike some other areas in
00:56Sheffield, you are bound to see people enjoying the eateries even during the weekday.
01:01But perhaps one of the most attractive qualities of the area is the greenery.
01:06Mill Houses Park is enjoyed by all ages and has play, cafe and sports facilities
01:11and not to mention well-maintained grounds by Sheffield City Council. We
01:15stopped at one skateboarder named Rhys Bingham to get his thoughts on the skate
01:19park. It's a good skate park, it's a nice area, greenery, nice people around, nice water. It's a nice park to be in to be fair, it's a nice environment.
01:33Do people when they're walking past ever chat to you? Yeah sometimes yeah, sometimes I'll watch,
01:38sometimes I'll be like how do you do that trick, show them how to do the trick and it's fun, that's nice.
01:46Do you ever let them have a go on your board? Yeah, there was this one guy that came and he was like I haven't been skating in like 20 years, I was like have a go on your board and he was like yeah go on, so I was like buzzing round the park.
01:59The park brings together members of the community and beyond in every season from snowy dog walks to paddle boats on the lake in the summer to tea and cake and light
02:09bites to eat in the cafe come rain or shine. To me it's pretty clear why Meal
02:14Houses is such a desirable place to live.
