00:00Accuweather sounding the alarm for the potential for a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico next
00:06week.
00:07We already have a high development area in the Northwest Caribbean.
00:10We think that we're going to get development here as early as Sunday, but certainly by
00:15the middle part of next week.
00:17Now, once that system develops in the Northwest Caribbean, where is it going to go?
00:21Well, first of all, history tells us that these systems typically go into the Gulf of
00:24Mexico and they typically strengthen and meteorological conditions will be favorable for storms.
00:30Where it goes next week depends on that dip in the jet stream across the central part
00:34of the United States.
00:35If it is a stronger dip in the jet stream, it's going to be a faster moving system and
00:40it will be more toward the east.
00:42If the jet stream is a little slower or a little weaker, then I think the system's a
00:46little slower and it moves a little farther to the west.
00:49The area we're highlighting right now for potential impacts, while we can't rule out
00:52anybody, highest threat will be the Louisiana toward Florida.
00:56We want you to be prepared, not scared.
