01:19il a chanté,
03:20Nonsense, a dit M. Tidy.
03:22Fiddle sticks, a dit M. Neat.
03:24But, a dit M. Messi.
03:26Come along, a dit M. Neat.
03:28Off we go,
03:30a dit M. Tidy.
03:32But,
03:34a dit M. Messi.
03:36But nothing, a dit M. Neat.
03:38And bundling him into their van,
03:40which was parked behind the house,
03:42off they went to M. Messi's house
03:44on the other side of the wood.
03:46Heavens, said Mr. Neat,
03:48when he saw where Mr. Messi lived.
03:50Good gracious me,
03:52added Mr. Tidy.
03:54This is the messiest house I've ever seen
03:56in all my born days.
03:58They both sat together at the same time.
04:00Better do something about it,
04:02said Mr. Neat.
04:04And before Mr. Messi could open his mouth,
04:06the two of them were rushing here and there
04:08about Mr. Messi's house.
04:10Mr. Neat hoed, and mowed,
04:12and pruned, and snipped,
04:14and swept, and cleared,
04:16and dug,
04:18and made the garden look neater
04:20than it had ever looked before.
04:22Mr. Tidy cleaned,
04:24and primed, and rubbed,
04:26and painted,
04:28and mended,
04:30and made the house of Mr. Messi
04:32look tidier than it had ever looked before.
04:34Then they both went
04:36inside the house.
04:38Good heavens, said Mr. Neat,
04:40for the second time that morning.
04:42Good heavens, said Mr. Tidy, for the second time that morning.
04:44And then they set about cleaning the house
04:46from top to bottom.
04:48They brushed, and swept,
04:50and polished, and scrubbed,
04:52and made the inside of the house look neater and tidier
04:54than it had ever looked before.
04:56There we are, said Mr. Tidy.
04:58All finished, said Mr. Neat.
05:00Tidy and neat,
05:02said Mr. Tidy.
05:04Neat and tidy,
05:06said Mr. Neat.
05:08Mr. Messi just didn't know
05:10what to say.
05:12Then they both looked at Mr. Messi.
05:14Are you thinking
05:16what I'm thinking?
05:18Mr. Neat said to Mr. Tidy.
05:20Precisely,
05:22said Mr. Tidy.
05:24What we're both thinking, boy,
05:26they said together to Mr. Messi,
05:28is that
05:30now the house is so neat
05:32and tidy,
05:34you are much too messy
05:36to live in it.
05:38But, said Mr. Messi,
05:40but whatever Mr. Messi said was no use,
05:42and Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy whisked him off
05:44to the bathroom upstairs.
05:46It had been the messiest room in the house,
05:48but now, of course, it was as bright as a new pin.
05:50Then Mr. Neat got hold
05:52of one of Mr. Messi's arms,
05:54and Mr. Tidy got hold of the other arm,
05:56and they picked him up
05:58and put him straight into the bath.
06:00Mr. Messi wasn't used to having baths.
06:02Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy washed,
06:04brushed, and cleaned,
06:06scrubbed, and combed Mr. Messi
06:08until he didn't look
06:10like Mr. Messi at all.
06:12In fact, he looked the opposite
06:14of Messi. He looked at himself
06:16in the mirror.
06:18You know what I'm going to have to do now?
06:20He said in a rather fierce voice.
06:22Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy
06:24looked worried.
06:26What are you going to have to do?
06:28They asked Mr. Messi.
06:30I'm going to have to change
06:32my name, said Mr. Messi.
06:34And they chuckled.
06:36Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy
06:38chuckled.
06:40Mr. Messi laughed.
06:42Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy laughed.
06:44And they all
06:46laughed together
06:48and became
06:50the best of friends.
