00:00It's time for Brockster's Millions.
00:06You can have a million dollars right now and forget the whole thing.
00:09Or you can go for the big one booster, the 300 million.
00:14Oh, what a dive by Brock Purdy.
00:17Did Brock Purdy's values skyrocket or take a nose dive this week?
00:21But if you fail, don't get diddly.
00:25Purdy.
00:26And he's always best.
00:28For the latest Brock's Stock Watch, here's Willard and Dibbs.
00:34Okay, Dibbs, Brock Purdy's stock up or stock down?
00:37Stock down and not dramatically down.
00:40I don't think that it took a nose dive, if I can borrow from the voice guy's quiver.
00:46I love that voice that he comes with.
00:49It's very dramatic, the quiver, but stock down.
00:52You could look at the numbers and you'd say, oh, man, 28 to 36 for 319 in the TUD.
00:58He had the one pick, but quarterback rating of 101.3.
01:01You look at the numbers and you think, okay, it's a good game.
01:05Then you watch the game and you realize, well, he also had a fumble.
01:09And there were some throws left out there.
01:11And not every interception is created equally.
01:14And the pick that he did throw was devastating because your defense had just held twice.
01:20And you had a chance to, with the drive, get back in the lead if you scored a touchdown.
01:25At the very least, you drive down, give your defense a break, get a field goal,
01:30and you hang in the ballgame.
01:32But that pick led to an immediate touchdown the other way,
01:35which created a deficit from which you could not recover.
01:38Yeah, baked into anything that I've ever felt about Brock Purdy is the turnover situation.
01:44And his ability to limit them and have very few.
01:47I think 11 picks all last year and four of them came in one game.
01:50That's really kind of incredible.
01:52He played 16 games, four picks in one game.
01:55Take those other 15 football games.
01:57He had a total of seven picks.
01:59That's a pick every two weeks, one time.
02:01That's really, really good.
02:03And when you do that, you're going to win a lot of football games.
02:05Yesterday, turned it over twice.
02:07I know the Vikings did too.
02:09But, yeah, I'll completely agree with you.
02:12Not a good game for Brock Purdy,
02:14but also not one that's going to knock anybody sort of off his scent
02:19when we talk about where this is headed.
02:23Is he going to get a commitment?
02:25Is he worth the money?
02:27What I think is relevant today is what we're going to see next
02:31and what this segment sounds like a week from today
02:34when we talk about Brockster's millions,
02:36because it's one thing to play without Christian McCaffrey,
02:39and I think a very significant one,
02:41but to do it without Christian and Deebo Samuel
02:44in many ways feels like what a lot of people have been waiting for.
02:47Like, okay, you want $60 million?
02:50Let's see you run an offense without, I think,
02:55the main two people that lead fans down the road of,
03:00dude, you're a product of all this stuff around you.
03:03I really think it's like, yes, the left tackle's amazing.
03:06Yes, great tight end.
03:08Sure, Brandon Ayuk's awesome.
03:10But I think that Deebo and Christian,
03:12because of where they get the ball within the offense,
03:15those are the two guys that make people go,
03:18dude, Brock is just like you just dump it over there
03:22and then these guys are amazing with the ball in their hands
03:24after the catch and all that.
03:25And that does.
03:26It gives him a few long touchdowns a year
03:28when he only threw the ball like a yard or two.
03:31Happened in Philadelphia last year with Deebo a few times.
03:34So I get that.
03:35I think those two guys are the main reason people say that about Brock.
03:38So let's take a look.
03:40Let's take a look at what it looks like without those two
03:43and their skill set on the field.
03:45Yeah, and you'll get a chance to see it against a Ram team on Sunday.
03:49And if he goes out there and plays well and they win,
03:52then the stock will go back up.
03:54And this is really, I think, the biggest test that he's had
03:58in terms of not having the guys around him.
04:01And for Shanahan, I think this is as much on him
04:04as it is on Brock Purdy.
04:05But you think about who the five eligibles will be for Brock Purdy
04:09on any given play.
04:11And Juwan's going to play more than usual.
04:13Ayuk will probably play almost every snap.
04:16Jordan Mason's going to play a ton.
04:18You'll have Kittle.
04:19And then you'll either have Chris Conley or Saubert or Juszczyk.
04:23You're going to have guys who are not used to being targeted
04:27or having the football in their hands.
04:29So it's going to be up to Brock to make this offense
04:32still hum with lesser people around him.
04:34Let's go to GPD, our friend in Hayward on Withered and Dibs.
04:38What's up, GPD?
04:39What are you doing?
04:41I just got home.
04:43I'm eating some Filipino pancit, which is like noodles and veggies
04:49and fish and chicken.
04:51I'm screaming.
04:52I love it.
04:53I'm in.
04:55And getting ready to go for a walk.
04:57Take the kids, walk to the park.
04:59This new park that they built by our house.
05:01Love it, too.
05:03So I'm not worried.
05:05My meter's at about a five.
05:07And, yes, we want to see Brock without the weapons.
05:11And you know what?
05:12This is what it's about, right?
05:14This is football.
05:16It's going to happen.
05:17What was their record last year?
05:2012-5.
05:2112-5.
05:2212-5.
05:2312-5.
05:24And they still made it to the Super Bowl.
05:25Yeah.
05:26I'm not tripping.
05:27I think Brock's going to actually pick up his game.
05:30He looked at his mistakes.
05:31He's going to come back, and he's going to get busy, bro,
05:34because this is what you do, right?
05:38It's a team effort.
05:39Everybody lost that game.
05:41I know.
05:43I was with you, Mark.
05:44I was like, oh, my God.
05:46I was cursing.
05:48I had to go into the garage and watch the game.
05:51You know what I'm saying?
05:54The kids couldn't hear me, bro.
05:56I was so pissed.
05:58But I got over it, and I'm just like, you know what?
06:01Hey, stock.
06:03I got stock.
06:04Berkshire Hathaway, Apple.
06:06Stock goes up and down, right?
06:08But over the long term, I'm at 112%.
06:12Profit on my stock, baby.
06:15I will tell you this.
06:17Speaking of stock, GPD, and I'm with you, and we love it when you call,
06:20and thank you very much.
06:22Yeah, this was a frustrating one, but when you start to, I don't know.
06:25Do you do this?
06:26Do you start to reason with yourself in the middle of games?
06:28You start to go, okay, what happens if they don't come back?
06:31Like what's the fallout?
06:33How damaging of a loss is this one?
06:35Sure, sure.
06:36So, I mean, we're so early in the year.
06:38My answer this time, in about the third quarter yesterday,
06:41when they go down 20 to 7, I'm like, okay,
06:44they're probably going to lose this game.
06:46What's the fallout?
06:47It's like, not much.
06:50I didn't know the Debo thing at that point, obviously.
06:52It hadn't even happened yet.
06:54But this was on the scale of damaging losses.
06:58This one is not that high.
07:00Years ago, might have been three or four years ago,
07:02when you lost in week two in the Meadowlands,
07:06and you lost Jimmy G and Nick Bosa on that terrible turf,
07:10and I believe you lost the game as well.
07:13That was a lot more damaging because Bosa torn ACL gone for the year.
07:18You lost your quarterback.
07:19That felt like a bigger blow.
07:20This was just a game that you lost, and honestly, you didn't lose it.
07:24They won it, is the way I look at it.
07:26Minnesota gets the credit more than the Niners get the blame.
07:30We're doing radio here in San Francisco,
07:32so we don't want to give too much credit to Minnesota
07:35because we're doing 49er, picking it through from a Niners standpoint.
07:39But Minnesota was really good.
07:41They played well.
07:42Their defense was better than your offense,
07:44and their offense was mostly better than your defense,
07:46and the special teams don't even get me started.
07:48So, yeah, week two, not that big of a deal for me.
07:53You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM and HG1 San Francisco

08:06I wanted to add this into the conversation.
08:08I have an update.
08:09I have an update for you.
08:12Remember when we were talking earlier about, like,
08:15where do the 49ers go from here as far as NFC favorite?
08:20They remain the NFC favorite.
08:22However, however, they did go into the weekend at plus 550.
08:28That's their Super Bowl odds, their odds to not just win the NFC
08:31to win the Super Bowl, plus 550.
08:34They lost the game, and they went to plus 650.
08:38And then the Debo announcement came out,
08:41and they went to plus 700.
08:43Okay, a little move.
08:44So if you're starting to, if you still want to buy stock in the Niners,
08:49I don't know, maybe today's a good day to go put a little something on it
08:55because the number has gotten, it has gotten better,
08:59somewhat significantly better.
09:00Yeah, if I was interested in, like, writing the number
09:04and putting money on it, I still would wait
09:06because there's a chance you go to L.A. and lose.
09:09It's a road game.
09:10It's a road game-ish.
09:11There's always a chance.
09:12And, you know, New England is better than I thought they'd be.
09:16I mean, they're not great.
09:17They're serviceable.
09:18Serviceable.
09:19They've got a good defense.
09:20And, you know, if the news comes out that Debo misses more than a couple,
09:24we know McCaffrey's going to miss the next three at least.
09:27It feels like that'll be longer.
09:29So if you're interested in the number and you still believe in the Niners,
09:33like Grandpa Daddy was just saying, you know, I'm not worried at all, guys.
09:38There's a new park by my house.
09:39I love it.
09:40I would wait and see if that number inflates a little bit more.
09:44It could.
09:45Because even if they won two in a row, I don't think the number would plummet.
09:49No.
09:50The number would probably stay about where it is.
09:51Probably.
09:52Probably.
09:53Chris in San Diego next up on Willard & Dibbs.
09:54Hi, Chris.
09:55Thanks for calling.
09:57Hey, thank you for answering.
09:59Yeah, that's what we do.
10:03Hey, I'm a first-time caller.
10:05And I love your show.
10:08One of the things I wanted to talk about,
10:10and I agree with some of the other guys who have been calling,
10:13is I would like to see Shanahan, you know, utilize his players, you know,
10:19a little bit more.
10:20All of them, not just McCaffrey.
10:23You know, and I know how everybody was calling in, you know,
10:27in the past last year.
10:28You know, why are we running McCaffrey all the time?
10:31Because we're scared of him getting hurt.
10:34And something like this was inevitable.
10:37And now he's running Mason all of the time, right?
10:40And, I mean, I don't want to see him get hurt all of a sudden.
10:43And, I mean, when he's running 28 runs in a game, 24, 28, he's doing great.
10:48He's doing awesome.
10:50I think we need to give him more credit than he deserves.
10:52But I just don't want to see him get hurt.
10:56We got the greatest.
10:57We have a lot of talent on the team.
11:00I wish he just didn't pass Devo or Jekittle or just some of the few,
11:06you know, because it's obvious for the defense to read.
11:09Others have been calling in and commenting the same thing,
11:15but I just have to concur with it.
11:17In fantasy football, I usually don't like to choose some of the run,
11:24you know, the wide receivers and cake on the Kansas City
11:28because, you know, Mahomes has so many of them
11:33and he utilizes all of them.
11:35Because they're always running plays
11:37and he's always throwing to different players.
11:39So, I don't pick players on fantasy football from the Kings.
11:43Chris, do you feel like the Niners were locking in on one or two people?
11:47Is that what you're saying?
11:49Yeah.
11:50Kind of locking in on a few.
11:52Once in a while you'll see Jabouk and I'll get one.
11:57But I think we just need to utilize everybody.
12:03Right on. Thank you.
12:04I got you, Chris.
12:05Thank you, Chris.
12:06Sorry, that one tripped me up.
12:07That was a good one.
12:08And you know what?
12:09Did he call him Jezook?
12:10Honestly, it is Jezook.
12:12Kyle can say whatever he wants about his last name,
12:15but you want to sound that thing out, it's Jezook.
12:18It's not use check.
12:20Oh, gosh.
12:21The Pukipski kid.
12:23We can go ahead and add that.
12:24How's it spelled?
12:25J-U-S-Z-C-Z-Y-K.
12:31I would argue it's just Zik.
12:36Sure.
12:37Sure, whatever you want to make it.
12:39I know this.
12:40Jezook.
12:41Every time that I text it, whenever I go on Twitter,
12:45I try to look it up and spell it right because some people will be like,
12:49No chance.
12:50But whenever I text it, I go J-U, and then I throw in a couple of Zs
12:55and a C and a Y and a K somewhere in there.
12:58I never spell it correctly.
12:59And you don't have to.
13:00Jezook.
13:01Thank you, Jezook.
13:02There's a couple names in Bay Area sports.
13:04There are about 14 different ways you can spell them,
13:06and everyone will still know who you're talking about.
13:08Right.
13:09Use check, yaz, and probably Pukipski kid.
13:12Pukipski kid.
13:13But pods is just pods, and yaz is yaz.
13:16Right.
13:17Well, juice is juice.
13:18So if you put juice, then it's juice.
13:20But sometimes you try to spell it, and it's seriously,
13:23I don't know where the Z and the C and the other Z go.
13:25I really don't want it to sound like I'm making fun of the caller.
13:29That just really hit me on my funny button.
13:31Jezook.
13:32That's great.
13:33That was awesome.
13:35Otherwise, though, his call was, I think, fairly spot on.
13:40I don't think that they focus on.
13:43You don't think they're spreading it around?
13:45They try to, but right now.
13:461, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 different people caught balls yesterday.
13:51Okay.
13:52But, you know, you have one guy running it.
13:55And, you know, I was looking through the Kyle Shanahan transcript today
13:59from the press conference, and I didn't see a question about Garendo.
14:04But I can give you the answer that Kyle would have given if asked.
14:07Go ahead.
14:08How did you feel about Isaac Garendo's effort?
14:11Well, I thought the one carry was a little flaccid and stuff,
14:14and I just don't think that he's ready to run it and stuff.
14:16And I'm not really ready to give him more totes and stuff.
14:20And I think you saw from the one carry that, I mean, it's a word.
14:25It's not a curse word and stuff.
14:27And, you know, you saw the one carry, and I gave him one snap,
14:30and that's what we got out of the one snap.
14:31And so I didn't feel like he was ready to get another snap and stuff.
14:35You know how people say that Brock Purdy is like a concoction of Kyle Shanahan?
14:39He's getting there.
14:40The proof is not in the play.
14:42What's the proof in?
14:43The press conference.
14:44The stuff.
14:45Listen one more time to him talk.
14:47This is Brock Purdy.
14:48I'm Brandon Iyuk.
14:49Granted, you can turn this off after the first five seconds.
14:52I think he looks pretty good and stuff, but.
14:54There you go.
14:55Yeah, he's getting there.
14:58Yep.
14:59Product of the system.
15:00You were all right.
15:02Complete product of the system.
15:05The caller is not wrong.
15:06I know that they threw the ball to eight different receivers fine,
15:10but right now it feels like Mason's the only one allowed to carry it
15:14with McCaffrey and Debo out,
15:16and they're looking for Kittle to throw it to,
15:19and hopefully Iyuk is up and ready to go,
15:22and he can start getting more targets.
15:24But right now it doesn't feel like the way it used to,
15:27which is Jawan and Juice Check or whatever that guy called him.
15:33Yeah.
15:34I mean, it doesn't feel right now like they're spreading it around
15:37because they can't.
15:38Juice had five targets?
15:39Yep.
15:40Jennings had four.
15:42Iyuk had five.
15:44Kittle had eight.
15:45Debo had ten.
15:47And then Saubert had a couple.
15:49Conley had one, and Mason had one.
15:52I don't know.
15:53That doesn't bother me.
15:54That feels like that feels spread out.
15:57That feels pretty good.
15:58That's pretty good spreading out.
16:01Dispersal?
16:02Yeah.
16:03It's all right.
16:04It's okay.
16:05What did you want?
16:06You want everybody to get equal time?
16:07No.
16:08What I want is twofold.
16:10One, I want them to have another running back that they can hand the ball to
16:15as a change of pace back.
16:17That's fair.
16:18I think that's fair.
16:19So right now it's been Debo.
16:20Who do you want that person to be?
16:22Well, I would love it to be Garendo, but based on the one-carrying stuff,
16:26I don't think that he's ready.
16:28I'm only reacting based on what Kyle did.
16:31So Kyle puts him in.
16:33They give him the ball.
16:35He goes nowhere.
16:36End of Garendo playing offense.
16:39That, to me, is a telling reality.
16:42The other one I'd like to see, Mark, is I'd like to see them maybe get a
16:46seven-step drop and pump one down the field one time.
16:49They didn't throw the ball down the field at all,
16:51and I know pass protection was a little spotty,
16:54but it was a pretty vanilla offensive approach from a passing standpoint,
16:58I thought.
16:59Well, I just think that the offensive line got beat,
17:03and I don't know what was in the play call.
17:06I don't know what the effort was,
17:09but if the offensive line breaks down a little bit, you're right.
17:14Those plays downfield are not going to develop.
17:16So I don't even know what the play call was,
17:18but Brock was often having to move around, run for his life.
17:22A couple things were off timing, and that's on him.
17:25And then outside of that, you know what I mean?
17:28He completed balls, but yeah, not far enough downfield.
17:32They end up in third down and short too much,
17:34and they were absolutely ineffective on that third and short.
17:38The Vikings did a great job.
