00:00The Lion of Sodor.
00:04It was a beautiful day on the island of Sodor.
00:09The sky was blue and the sun was shining brightly.
00:13Thomas was chuffing cheerfully to Brendam Docks.
00:16He felt very happy.
00:19Thomas had to collect the special special,
00:24but he didn't know what it was.
00:27Hello, Cranky. Is my special ready?
00:30Yes, it is. The mayor is waiting for it at Knapford.
00:34You must puff very carefully.
00:37Thomas was puzzled.
00:39What is it, Cranky?
00:43It's the Lion of Sodor!
00:46Cinders and ashes! How exciting!
00:49I promised to take extra special care of it.
00:52I've never carried a real live lion before.
00:55When Cranky heard this, he was surprised.
00:58No, Thomas! The Lion of Sodor is nap!
01:02But Thomas was too excited to listen to Cranky.
01:06He was already puffing proudly out of the docks.
01:11Thomas huffed happily along.
01:17Then he met Henry.
01:21Hello, Thomas. You look happy. What's your special?
01:24It's a lion!
01:26Bust my buffers! That's exciting! I only have sticky syrup to deliver.
01:31Suddenly an idea flew into Thomas' funnel.
01:35I promised to take extra special care of my lion.
01:39I think he might really like sticky syrup.
01:42Could I have some for him, Henry?
01:45Of course!
01:47Thomas' driver poured some sticky syrup into the lion's crate.
01:53Thank you, Henry. I have to hurry now.
01:56The mayor is waiting for the Lion of Sodor.
02:00Henry was surprised.
02:02Fizzling fireboxes! Thomas has made a mistake!
02:05Stop, Thomas! The Lion of Sodor is a nap!
02:09But Thomas didn't stop and he didn't listen.
02:16Next, Thomas met Edward.
02:20Hello, Thomas. You look happy. What's your special?
02:24It's a lion!
02:26Flatten my funnel! How exciting! I only have to deliver fresh fish.
02:31I think my lion would really like fresh fish.
02:35May I have some for him, Edward?
02:37Of course!
02:39So Thomas' driver put some fresh fish into the lion's crate.
02:48Thank you, Edward. I must hurry now.
02:50The mayor is waiting for the Lion of Sodor.
02:54Edward was surprised.
02:56Clattering carriages! Stop, Thomas! The Lion of Sodor is a nap!
03:01But Thomas didn't stop and he didn't listen.
03:10Then Thomas saw Toby.
03:13Hello, Thomas. You look happy. What's your special?
03:17It's a lion!
03:19Flatten my funnel! How exciting! I only have to deliver fresh fish.
03:24I think my lion would really like fresh fish.
03:28May I have some for him, Toby?
03:30Of course!
03:32So Thomas' driver put some fresh fish into the lion's crate.
03:38Thank you, Toby. I must hurry now.
03:41The mayor is waiting for the Lion of Sodor.
03:44Toby was surprised.
03:46Clattering carriages! Stop, Thomas! The Lion of Sodor is a nap!
03:52But Thomas didn't stop and he didn't listen.
03:55Thomas' pistons pumped and his wheels whirred.
03:59He couldn't wait to deliver his lion.
04:02He chuffed his hardest and raced on towards Knapford Station.
04:07At last Thomas puffed proudly into Knapford.
04:11The Fat Controller was there and so were the other engines.
04:16I'm very excited, Thomas! This is a big day! The Lion of Sodor is here!
04:22Thomas was uncoupled from the flatbed and he pulled away to join the other engines.
04:29The workmen carefully opened the lion's crate.
04:41Then the engines gasped.
04:44The Lion of Sodor wasn't a real lion at all.
04:49It was a statue and now it was covered in sticky syrup, fresh fish and straw.
04:56The Fat Controller was cross.
04:59Thomas, this is a terrible mess!
05:02Gordon and James laughed. Thomas felt very silly.
05:07I'm sorry. I thought I had a real lion in my crate.
05:11I wanted to take extra special care of it.
05:14I didn't know the Lion of Sodor was a statue.
05:17So the Fat Controller told Thomas all about the Lion of Sodor
05:23and the other engines listened carefully.
05:26So you see, Thomas, it was the most famous statue on Sodor.
05:31Then it broke. This is the shiny new statue we have been waiting for.
05:36The Mayor is coming at tea time and now look at it.
05:40I'll make sure it's clean, sir. I promise.
05:42The Lion of Sodor will be shiny and new again in no time.
05:46Very well, Thomas.
05:48Thomas still felt very silly.
05:51Cheer up, Thomas. I didn't know the Lion of Sodor was a statue either.
05:56It all happened a long, long time ago.
05:59Not many engines remember that time. We tried to tell you but you didn't stop.
06:05I'm sorry, Henry. I should have listened.
06:08Now I must hurry. I must get the Lion of Sodor cleaned right away.
06:13Why don't you take it to the wash down?
06:16This time Thomas listened.
06:18What a good idea. Thank you, Henry.
06:21Thomas was coupled to the flatbed and he chuffed quickly away.
06:29Thomas took the Lion of Sodor to the wash down.
06:34Soon the sticky mess was washed off.
06:38That looks much better, Thomas.
06:41But the statue isn't shiny.
06:45Take it to the steamworks, Thomas.
06:47They'll polish it until it sparkles and shines.
06:50This time Thomas listened.
06:53Thank you, Edward. That's a very good idea.
06:57Victor will know just what to do.
07:00And Thomas chuffed quickly away.
07:07Thomas took the Lion of Sodor to the steamworks.
07:11Workmen polished the statue until it shone and sparkled.
07:16Just as Edward had said.
07:19The Lion of Sodor looks much better now, Thomas.
07:23But it's nearly tea time. The mail will soon be at Knapford and it's a long way.
07:29Take the track by the windmill. That'll get you there in time.
07:33This time Thomas listened.
07:35Thank you, Toby. That's a good idea.
07:39So Thomas took the shortcut past the windmill.
07:43He huffed and puffed as fast as his pistons could pump towards Knapford.
07:49Children cheered and passengers waved as Thomas chuffed by.
07:55Everyone wanted to see the Lion of Sodor.
07:59And everyone wanted Thomas to stop.
08:02I can't stop now. I mustn't be late.
08:06The mail will be at Knapford and he won't wait.
08:09And Thomas whooshed on his way.
08:13Thomas puffed proudly into Knapford station.
08:17The mail had just arrived.
08:19He was delighted to see the new Lion of Sodor.
08:24The statue shone and sparkled in the sun.
08:28Well done, Thomas. This is the finest statue I've ever seen.
08:33And the cleanest.
08:35Everyone cheered and Thomas smiled from footplate to fender.
