00:00Just as it takes an entire village to rear a child, so does it entail a whole-of-government
00:06effort to put to bed the problem of online sexual abuse and child exploitation that has
00:12bedeviled the nation.
00:14Our Alan Francisco dwells deeper into the President's vow to put these repulsive human
00:20predators out of business, even as he nearly choked up in expressing empathy and compassion
00:26to the victims he heard and thought of this evening.
00:32President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. almost choked up and turned completely emotional
00:37as he sympathized with the young victims of abuse, particularly in hearing the story of
00:43a survivor of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, or OSAI.
00:48These took place at an event in Makati City earlier with the theme, I isang nasyon, I
00:54isang aksyon, tapusin ng online sexual abuse or exploitation of children, ngayon Summit
01:002024.
01:01As I was listening to the young lady, and she is a lady, I could not help but shed a
01:11tear to think, to try to help to relive the suffering that she went through and to think
01:22how many other children are even, as we hear, sit in this fancy hotel room, eating our fancy
01:31food, continuing to suffer the same fate as she has.
01:40And the company to those tears I just shed was a deep sense of shame because we have
01:48not done enough for the Philippines to now be considered the epicenter of, let us not
01:57shorten it into a clinical term, OSAIC.
02:03It is sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
02:09And I leave it to your imagination.
02:12Thus President Marcos said, it is necessary to put an end to the abuse of children among
02:17the government's action, according to the President, is the Interagency Council Against
02:21Trafficking, as well as the establishment of the Presidential Office for Child Protection,
02:27which will focus on ensuring that every child in the country is protected and supported.
02:33On the legislative level, the President mentioned the Anti-OSAIC and Anti-SASAIC Act, along
02:39with the expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.
02:43He also highlighted the importance of effectively implementing the Philippines Internet Crimes
02:48Against Children initiative.
02:50The President called on everyone, including government agencies and international partners,
02:56to continuously promote the campaign against abuse.
02:59He emphasized once again that his administration will do everything in its power to fight crimes
03:05against children and punish those involved.
03:08We are here today to confront one of the greatest challenges of our time.
03:15The challenges that we face in government are always the challenges that are brought
03:19to us by the future.
03:22And what exemplifies our future more, what symbolizes our future more than our children.
03:28And that is why this strikes at the very heart of our society.
03:31It undermines the foundations of what we are, of who we are as a people.
03:37No less than our President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that the most heinous and evil of
03:48all crimes are crimes committed against children, specifically sexual exploitation.
03:59And during this meeting, he ordered all of those present to immediately crack down on
04:06OSAIC.
04:08This is our President, a nagtatanggol sa ating kinabukasan.
04:14Meanwhile, the President went straight to attend the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas General
04:19Assembly and National Convention event in Manila.
04:22Here, he stressed the need for political parties to adjust to the evolving nature of campaigning.
04:28It's worth noting that next month marks the start of the filing of candidacies for next
04:33year's election.
04:34The President mentioned the alliances forging and forming with various political parties
04:39across the country.
04:40My rule to myself when we are campaigning is that it is directed to my father.
04:46He said that you should always be close to getting sick.
04:51But you should not get sick because it is a waste of days if you get sick.
04:55You cannot afford one or two days that you are not campaigning.
04:58So we just need to get a perfect balance.
05:01That is what we will do for all of you.
