SpaceX private Polaris Dawn astronauts splash down in Gulf of Mexico

SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission ended with a splashdown near Dry Tortugas, off the coast of Florida early Sunday (Sept 15) morning. The five-day mission, led by US billionaire Jared Isaacman, marked several significant milestones in private space exploration.

00:03SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission ended with a splashdown near dry Tortugas,
00:09off the coast of Florida in the United States, on Sunday morning.
00:16The five-day space mission, led by U.S. billionaire Jared Isaacman,
00:20marked significant milestones in private space exploration.
00:25The Crew Dragon capsule touched down at 3.37 a.m.,
00:29carrying the other three crew members, Scott Poteet, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon,
00:34back home safely.
00:36SpaceX video posted on its social media accounts
00:39showed the four crew members leaving the capsule.
00:43Polaris Dawn was launched into space on September 10.
00:46During their mission, the crew performed their first-ever commercial spacewalk
00:50on September 12.
00:52They tested newly designed extravehicular activity suits during the spacewalk
00:56that lasted over 20 minutes.
00:58They also conducted almost 40 scientific experiments,
01:01studying the effects of microgravity on the human body
01:04and testing advanced medical technologies.
01:07Communication tests using SpaceX's Starlink satellites
01:11were also a key part of the mission.
