A murder probe has been launched after three people were found dead in a block of flats this morning (Sep 13).

Bedfordshire Police said they were called at 5.30am to reports of concerns for welfare at a flat in Luton, Beds.

Emergency services attended and discovered three people with injuries at the property at Leabank on Wauluds Bank Drive.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested less than a mile away on Bramingham Road and has been taken into custody for questioning.

An investigation has been launched by the Beds, Cambs, and Herts Major Crime Unit but police said there is not wider threat to the community.

One nearby resident on Facebook said: "Raid van turned up with more officers, over 12 police cars there this morning with at least three ambulances."

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall said: “This is a truly appalling incident which has sadly resulted in the tragic deaths of three people.

"We understand this news will be incredibly shocking, but please be assured we will work tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding these deaths.

“One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and we do not believe there is any threat to the wider community.

"However, we appreciate people will be concerned, so there will be an increased presence of community police officers in and around the area today and over the coming days to answer questions and provide reassurance.”
