00:00Hey, it's People in 10, the 200th episode, and the Royals gave us the update we've all
00:09been waiting for.
00:10The Princess of Wales is officially cancer-free.
00:12As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed
00:18my chemotherapy treatment.
00:21The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.
00:25The heartfelt video featured loving moments between Kate and hubby Prince William and
00:29the playful shots of their three kids frolicking near their Norfolk, England home.
00:33This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple
00:39yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted, of simply loving
00:46and being loved.
00:47Now, she's focused on healing and recovery.
00:50She'll also start returning to public life slowly with possible appearances at Remembrance
00:54Day in November and her annual carol concert in December.
00:57You go, Kate!
01:00Two famous faces of music are speaking their truths via statements on social media.
01:04First, Dave Grohl announced he has a new baby, a daughter, but it's with a woman outside
01:09his 23-year marriage.
01:11Big yikes!
01:12Now, Dave says he wants to be a loving and supportive parent while also trying to regain
01:16the trust of his wife and three other kids.
01:18Good luck with that one!
01:19Meanwhile, Taylor Swift is getting political.
01:22After the debate on Tuesday night, Kate officially announced she's endorsing Kamala Harris for
01:26president.
01:27This is a big deal given the influence she has on her fans, but she did ask everyone
01:33to do their own research on the issues, which for her included LGBTQ plus rights, IVF access,
01:39and a woman's right to her own body.
01:40And leave it to Taylor to also make a statement with her style.
01:44She and Travis Kelce hit the Big Apple for some dates this weekend.
01:47First, it was TGIF at the Brooklyn hotspot, Lucali, then Saturday florals for their friend
01:52Karen Elson's wedding.
01:54The next day, they packed on the PDA at the US Open, where Tay rocked a red and white
01:58gingham dress.
01:59That's before she switched it up for night time in a Gucci mini.
02:02Chic!
02:03But my favorite of all might be from Thursday night football last week for the Chiefs season
02:07opener.
02:08Those boots were made for winning, girl!
02:11Okay, I got a boner pick with the Country Music Association.
02:15Beyonce was snubbed, yes snubbed, from the CMA Award noms this year.
02:20Morgan Wallen leads the pack with seven nods, while Chris Stapleton, Cody Johnson, Post
02:24Malone, and Lainey Wilson are all in the mix too.
02:27But Queen B?
02:28Not one nomination?
02:29If this ain't country,
02:35then I don't want it, honey.
02:38It's only September, and we already know who's playing the Super Bowl halftime show in February.
02:43K-Dot, aka Kendrick Lamar.
02:45And we need all the deets.
02:46Let's call Jack.
02:48Hey Mika, what's up?
02:49Hey Jack!
02:50Okay, so tell us why Kendrick Lamar is a good pick for the Super Bowl.
02:54Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation company works with the NFL on picking the performers, talked
02:58about how he's a once-in-a-generation artist, and he has a deep love for hip hop.
03:02He's one of the biggest rappers out there.
03:04He's considered one of the top five by a lot of people.
03:07And many people even say his big hit song, Not Like Us, was the banger of the summer.
03:14I mean, it was my banger of the summer.
03:17So I'm curious to know, what has been the reaction?
03:19What are people saying?
03:20So fans are really excited to see Kendrick, but it's been a little mixed.
03:24You know, the Super Bowl is going to be in New Orleans, and stars like Nicki Minaj, Master
03:29P, and Birdman wanted Lil Wayne, who's a New Orleans native, to headline the show.
03:34But Jack, he could surprise everyone and bring out Lil Wayne.
03:38That's totally possible.
03:39But it is complicated, because Kendrick and Drake are actually beefing right now.
03:43And Lil Wayne and Drake have a really long, time-standing relationship.
03:47But it would be amazing.
03:49What if they even went a step further and brought out Drake and just squashed the beef
03:53publicly on the big stage for everyone to see?
03:55It would be such an epic win for hip hop.
03:58I'm here for it.
03:59Well, thank you for the info, Jack.
04:00I'll talk to you later.
04:01Anytime, Mako.
04:03Bye.
04:04Selena Gomez is making peace with her reality.
04:07She got candid to Vanity Fair about not being able to carry her own children.
04:11She said in the past that certain bipolar disorder medications might cause this.
04:15And now she admits it was something she had to grieve.
04:18She's also been open in the past about her lupus diagnosis and suffering from complications
04:22with that.
04:23So she's keeping it just as real about this, too.
04:26And hey, she knows she's got options.
04:28There's adoption and surrogacy.
04:30And she says she's excited about her journey.
04:32Because in the end, the baby will be hers.
04:35And that's all that matters.
04:38We've been in awe of NHL widow Meredith Goudreau and the strength she's shown after her husband
04:44Johnny and his brother Matthew were killed by a drunk driver at the end of August.
04:48Now, she's making headlines this week for her speech at their memorial, where she announced
04:52she's nine weeks pregnant with her and Johnny's third child.
04:55They also share a two-year-old and a seven-month-old.
04:58With a new bundle of joy in the way, Meredith calls the pregnancy a total surprise and a
05:02blessing in difficult circumstances.
05:05Matthew's widow Madeline is also pregnant with their first child.
05:13Well, Snoop Dogg made the world fall even more in love with him during the Paris Olympics.
05:17This man was up for anything.
05:19But at home, he's just Papa Snoop.
05:21Grandpa to seven grandkids.
05:23He wouldn't have it any other way.
05:25But he does have one gripe.
05:34And I be dressing up, so that's why I be complaining.
05:36I gotta turn into He-Man or whoever the f**k.
05:39Toy Story or somebody.
05:41Baby Shark.
05:42I got them food.
05:43He's just my grandson.
05:44He's smarter than the average bear.
05:45Papa Snoop?
05:46Is that you in there?
05:47Shout out to Zion.
05:48The smartest guy in the family.
05:50I love being a grandpa.
05:52Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield's new movie, We Live in Time, isn't horsing around.
05:56Not because it's a gut punch of a film, which it is, but because of an actual horse.
06:01Or rather, the carousel horse used in his press kit.
06:04I noticed the horse.
06:05And I was like, whoa, that's an interesting choice.
06:10A choice that has since gone very viral.
06:14Man, I love the horse meme.
06:16Honestly, I was crying with laughter.
06:18I love the shining.
06:20Alien.
06:21It was brilliant.
06:23Now it's the sit down with Zedd.
06:25Hi, Zedd.
06:26Congrats on your new album.
06:27It's out now.
06:28But you haven't released a studio album in almost 10 years.
06:31Why was now the perfect time?
06:32Well, I don't think it's as much that it was the right time, so to speak, to release it.
06:37But it's more so that I haven't been in the right headspace.
06:40And it just took a pandemic for me to sort of hit rock bottom creatively and discover a lot of new music and a lot of new artists that I fell in love with.
06:50And then come out of the pandemic with a deep pool of inspiration to really sit down and create something that I'm unbelievably proud of.
06:58There's definitely something for everyone on here.
07:00Collabs with Remy Wolf, John Mayer, the late Jeff Buckley.
07:03How do you decide who to collab with and how does it work?
07:06So I think this album in particular is I see it sort of as a autobiography.
07:12So every song, every artist has a meaning to me.
07:15Personally, Bea is one of my favorite singers and humans alive.
07:19I've tried to work with her for quite some time.
07:21It's just that we never found the right song.
07:23I actually have tried to work with Matthew from Muse.
07:26We've tried to work on two songs in the past and they also didn't feel right.
07:30And John Mayer and I have been trying to work together since 2015.
07:34And it's just that none of us wanted to just make a song to make a song together.
07:39We wanted it to feel right.
07:41And I think I've sort of started these songs throughout the years that felt a little bit more musical
07:46than most of the songs that I had been releasing at the time.
07:49I didn't like the message it would send if I had released really any of Telos individually.
07:54So I think when I sat down and kind of started creating the canvas for Telos,
08:00I was like, well, this is a perfect opportunity to finally be able to collaborate with all these artists that have inspired me so deeply.
08:07I used to be in a band before I was Zedd and my first concert ever was a cover of Muse.
08:11And that was our biggest inspiration.
08:13And we grew up listening to Jeff Buckley when we were young.
08:17And the last song that I did with Muse is based on a classical piece,
08:21which was the first classical piece I ever learned to play on piano.
08:25So a lot of these things are just things throughout my life.
08:28So it was less that I made a list like, I need to work with you.
08:31I need to work with you.
08:32It turned out to just be my whole life.
08:34And I think the artists fell into place really naturally.
08:38So it was a real full circle moment for me.
08:40Your last album came out in 2015.
08:42How do you think the music landscape has changed since then?
08:45Do you think we're in a better or worse place with social media and the role of the Internet in promoting music?
08:50Oh, that's a really hard question to answer.
08:53I think if you ask me personally, if there was a parallel universe I could live in,
08:59I would live in a parallel universe with no social media.
09:02In a universe where I would be able to create music and release it without really knowing how people feel about it
09:09until I put up a show and it's like, well, people showed up.
09:11Oh, people didn't show up.
09:12I guess it's not like here.
09:14I think social media plays just so much of a significant role these days.
09:19I think the two biggest players are algorithms that a few humans decide on
09:24and like sort of trends and videos and TikToks.
09:29And I honestly, I'm just not good at it.
09:31I'm good at a few things.
09:33One of them is making music.
09:34I'm not great at like being in front of a camera and like dancing and making videos about my music and promoting it.
09:40That's just not my strong suit.
09:42So it depends on who you ask.
09:44Like I prefer pure art.
09:46I prefer to just make music, release it and not have to think about TikTok videos to make.
09:51But some people will give you the opposite answer.
09:542024 has been such a busy year for you.
09:57We're curious to know, what does a day off look like for you?
10:00So I wake up, I make myself a coffee and I lay on the couch and play Hearthstone on my iPad for hours with my friends.
10:09And I just sort of do nothing.
10:10And then the sun goes, I'm like, oh, wow, I really didn't do much.
10:13That mental state of not even thinking what you have to do in your next hour is vacation.
10:19So perfect day off is when I can just lay on the couch and like just not have to do anything all day.
10:25That's perfect already. Perfect day.
10:27OK, we're going to put 10 seconds on the clock to promote any one of your projects.
10:30Ready? Go.
10:31I'm Zedd and I just released a new album.
10:33It's called Tell Us and I'm going on tour.
10:35The Tell Us Tour. Everywhere.
10:39Zedd, thank you so much for stopping by.
10:41Thank you. That was very sweet.
