00:00Instead of giving definite answers, the Vice President again made allegations against the
00:05lower house, which did not sit well with many lawmakers who said that it seems it is actually
00:12the second highest official of the land who is politicizing an otherwise normal government
00:17practice.
00:18Why?
00:19Melales Moras explains in this report.
00:21I honestly take offense that the Vice President has chosen to make all these accusations over
00:32media, over an obviously scripted television interview, because if he has a lot to say,
00:40why didn't he say it when he was here in Congress?
00:45Several lawmakers strongly denied the accusations made by Vice President Sara Duterte against
00:51the House of Representatives.
00:53In a new interview released by her office, VP Sara insisted that congressmen continue
00:58to talk and plot impeachment against her.
01:00She also claimed the lower house wants to sweep her off funds for next year as part
01:05of what she described as politicking and attacks against her.
01:08The Office of the Vice President budget was defunded.
01:12We also heard that the budget given to the Office of the Vice President is only a possible
01:18peso.
01:19I am ready for the Office of the Vice President to work even if there is no budget.
01:26But House Committee on Appropriations Vice Chair Zia Alonto Adjong opposed this.
01:30Adjong serves as the budget sponsor for the Office of the Vice President who is tasked
01:35to defend it in the plenary.
01:37I think the ones that are accusing us of politicking are the ones who are actually doing the politicking.
01:43We are not going to just ignore the budget that is required for the Office of the Vice
01:57President to have in order for the office itself and the institution itself to operate.
02:02For his part, House Assistant Majority Leader Paulo Ortega said it seems Vice President
02:07Duterte is the only one attacking herself.
02:10At the lower house, he insisted they are simply focusing on their work and the issues at hand.
02:15Most of the people he raises seem to be the ones who are attacking themselves.
02:20Most of the people he said are attacking themselves.
02:25It seems like they are self-inflicted.
02:27But in the House of Representatives, we have been from the start even in the press conference.
02:33If there are issues, we stick with the issues.
02:36In a brief interview, House Appropriations Chair Elizalde Co once again fired back at
02:41VP Duterte.
02:42He is the one who is scripted, he is the one who is fooled, because as you can see, he
02:49is being read.
02:50He is being lied to.
02:51He has his allies who are his lawyers, they are there, he is being pressured, he is being
02:56pressured.
02:57Right?
02:58It means he really doesn't want to answer the confidential fund because he can't explain
03:03because he stole the money.
03:06If he were to be asked, Davao del Norte First District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez,
03:15who is known to be an ally of the Duterte family, said he does not doubt the capability
03:19of the House of Representatives to impeach the Vice President.
03:23But if they really decide to do it, it would be political suicide.
03:27Senator Ronald de la Rosa also had this to say to support the second highest leader of
03:32the country.
03:33Melalas Moras from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
