00:00It's still viral until now on social media, the post of a far parent who doesn't allow her aspen to be in a restaurant in Tagaytay has received a lot of reactions.

00:11Here is the report.

00:15Lara Antonio went to Tagaytay this week with her two dogs.

00:20One of them is Yoda. Of course, they need to eat pet-friendly.

00:25They went to a restaurant that is known for being pet-friendly in Tagaytay.

00:29When they arrived, they were told to wear a diaper, which they immediately followed.

00:34But it was a medium-sized dog that was allowed in the restaurant.

00:38Based on their pet policy, they were even asked what Yoda's breed is.

00:43She's a medium-sized dog. What are the size qualifications of medium-sized?

00:46And before she could answer me, she actually said, what is her breed?

00:50Why do you have to know my dog's breed?

00:53Normally, I'll say Aspen. I already had a feeling that it's going to be about the breed, isn't it?

01:00It's going to end up because she's an Aspen, they won't let us in. Or because she's an Aspen, they don't want us in.

01:05Lara insisted on the restaurant's pet policy.

01:08She was shown pictures of the dogs who became customers posted on the restaurant's social media page.

01:15When I heard the word Labrador, I knew it was about Yoda.

01:21I knew it was about her breed.

01:23Don't say you're pet-friendly when you're not.

01:25Because what about people like me who travel from Manila?

01:29What about those who had spent their entire day planning a day to go to Balay Dako,

01:35thinking that they can bring their pets and they get there and they're turned away?

01:39I got to the car and I started crying.

01:41The Pawsion Project is an animal welfare group and rescue shelter for a calm and kind Aspen named Yoda.

01:49We really felt off because I was asked about the breed.

01:54That was really what hurt me as someone who's been very passionate about elevating the status of the Aspens.

02:02According to Malu Perez, it's sad to accept that Aspens are discriminated against.

02:08I'd bring rescues to the vet, even if it's an emergency.

02:11You really shouldn't accommodate them first.

02:14And then you'd see other dogs with breeds.

02:17It's just a check-up. It doesn't mean anything.

02:19They're really okay.

02:21Why would you put them first?

02:22Because they think, oh, these people have more capacity to pay because these dogs are with breeds.

02:28So, you know, this is discrimination.

02:31It doesn't really just happen in restaurants.

02:33The sympathy of the netizens for Yoda was increased.

02:36Animal welfare groups also commented.

02:39Even the passion icon, Heart Evangelista, a proud mom of an Aspen,

02:44posted on her Instagram story a picture of a panda with the caption,

02:49Sending love to Yoda.

02:51The restaurant also released a statement and said that they will study their pet policy

02:56and will get used to the proper implementation by the police.

03:00But netizens noticed that the picture of a large breed of dog was removed from their social media posts.

03:08According to Lara and Malu, the incident should have been studied.

03:12People should have empathy.

03:15Because that's where it starts.

03:16Once you grow that empathy on these animals,

03:21that's where all the actions start.

03:24Everyone who has been sharing and talking and defending Yoda,

03:27really, thank you so much.

03:28But I do hope that this opens everyone's eyes to, you know,

03:31what Aspens are really like and might even make them want to consider

03:35either fostering, sheltering, sponsoring, or just visiting shelters,

03:40spending time with these dogs.
