00:00Our Philippine Paralympic team returned to the country on Tuesday night after their campaign in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

00:09Here's Daryl Oclares.

00:13Our Philippine Paralympic team, who fought in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games,

00:18was warmly welcomed on Tuesday night at IA Terminal 3.

00:25Around 10 p.m., coaches and Paralympians boarded airplanes

00:31led by Gerald Pete Mangliwan,

00:34Cindy Asusano,

00:36Ernie Gawilan,

00:37Angel Othom,

00:39Aling Ganapin,

00:40and Agustina Bandilo.

00:42Officials of the Philippine Paralympic Committee also returned to the country

00:47led by PPC President Mike Barredo.

00:51In the Philippine Paralympic Committee's interview with Barredo,

00:54he shared his assessment of the country's performance in the Paralympics.

01:00I can only say, first of all, I'm very proud of the team.

01:03I think, if you look at it, out of the six athletes,

01:06five had on-podium possibilities, right?

01:10Barredo also laid out what to pay attention to for sports

01:15so that more para-athletes can play in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.

01:20So, it's very clear that we have to increase our numbers,

01:23we have to focus on some sports,

01:26and follow the pathway.

01:29And, of course, continue the support of the government,

01:33add more if possible,

01:35and I hope the private sector can also join

01:38so that we can build the help that is given to our para-athletes

01:43in all levels of international competition,

01:46so that we can participate at the local and national level.

01:51On Wednesday, the Paralympics will be held in Malacanang

01:55for a hero's welcome given by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
