00:00The foreign head coach of the Philippine Squash Academy, Wee Wern Low, is positive about the chance of the country for the next Olympics in 2028.

00:10This is what Paulo Salamatin reported.

00:14The former World No. 5 and foreign head coach of the Philippine National Squash Team, Wee Wern Low,

00:20shared the chance of the Filipino squashers for the first squash event in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

00:27Squash is one of the five new games to be flagged in the 2028 Olympic Games,

00:32including sports like softball, flag football, lacrosse, and cricket.

00:36According to Coach Wee,

00:38the division of several major tournaments is what he sees as a way forward in the Olympics.

00:58But understanding it, how to apply it, and I think I've seen some progress so far.

01:04At the moment, the rankings of the top squash players in the country,

01:08Jemai Caribado and Raymarc Begorña, are at more than 100.

01:10They need to increase this ranking to the top 30-40 in the world rankings

01:16in order to qualify for the Olympic Games.

01:19Coach Wee said,

01:20The chances of the Filipino squashers to qualify for the Olympics will depend on how good they are at qualifying events.

01:28By virtue of their age, but I think if you want something hot enough,

01:34they will find a way to get there.

01:36So it's entirely up to them.

01:38Before the 2028 Olympic Games,

01:40the Filipino squashers will use some of the major tournaments ahead,

01:44like the Southeast Asian Games next year,

01:47Asian Games, and other local and international competitions.
