00:00I want to be able to share stories of women and girls and I want to bring women directors
00:17and storytellers forward and this production company is that opportunity and I'm looking
00:21forward to working with more incredible women and girls.
00:25Sue Kim, this amazing director, had come across these incredible women in South Korea and
00:31she wanted to tell us the story of one of the few matriarchal societies in the world
00:36where women can stay under the ocean for two to three minutes and they are so inspiring,
00:43so caring and they give us a message of shared humanity and they care about each other, they're
00:49so supportive and I learned so much from them and they decide to become activists at the
00:56age of 80 and 90 and I've been an activist for a very long time in my life and what I
01:03learned from them is you never give up, you can be an activist at any age, if you know
01:07that there are issues impacting your lives you have to speak up so I could connect with
01:12them in so many ways including with their activism.
01:16And basically what happened is on one of my trips I found out that they were the last
01:20generation of the Henyo because there were no younger women coming after them and that
01:24is when I decided no matter what to tell their story and make sure it's documented so that
01:29the world could know them even if they're no longer here in 10, 20 years.
