00:02In this video, I will explain the ending of Candy Cane Lane.

00:04So, let's begin.

00:06The Reginald Hudlin directorial, Amazon Prime's Candy Cane Lane, is a Christmas fantasy comedy

00:11movie that centers upon an annual Christmas contest that makes residents of a local neighborhood

00:15compete against one another to have the best decorated home for Christmas.

00:19One of the residents, Chris Carver, is looking forward to winning, and in his desperation,

00:23he decides to turn to a stranger named Pepper and use some form of magic to make his property

00:27the best and most festive out of the lot.

00:30Sooner rather than later, he realizes that he has made a grave mistake when he learns

00:34about Pepper's truth.

00:35In actuality, Pepper is an evil elf who is known to transform her clients into plastic

00:40dolls.

00:41Now, Chris is in a race against time and must back out of the deal before she does the same

00:45to his friends, neighbors, and family.

00:48Here's everything you need to know about the ending, just to let you know this video will

00:53Pepper is short for Peppermint, and it is a rather noteworthy thing about the film.

00:57Coming to the family, Chris loves Christmas so much that he has named his entire family

01:01after the festival.

01:03He also loves wood carving and decorates his house with everything he makes.

01:07His greatest rival is his neighbor, who loves boasting and one-upping him while serving

01:11him the terrible box wine that nobody in Chris' family likes.

01:15But these problems turn ginormous soon enough when Chris loses his job a day before Christmas,

01:19and it is announced that the person with the best decorated Christmas house will win a

01:22huge sum of money.

01:24Chris decides to go all out for Christmas and wants to win at any cost that year.

01:28But that proves tricky right away because everyone has the same goal, and Christmas

01:32shopping is just about empty.

01:34That is when Chris and his daughter, Holly, stumble upon a pop-up Christmas shop that

01:38has some of the best goodies ever.

01:41Chris meets the shopkeeper, Pepper, who is dressed like an elf, and she gives him a tree

01:44and a receipt to sign, which should have looked suspicious to Chris if he hadn't been so

01:48blinded by the shiny Christmas stuff.

01:51Needless to say, his decorations for his house are the best, but the very next day,

01:55a lot of the ornaments and decorations on the tree are missing.

01:58Chris' initial thought is that they have been vandalized, and he goes back to the shop to

02:02see if he can get replacement parts.

02:04It is clear that everything was handmade, so replacements are not possible.

02:08But within this time, Chris and Holly discover that the tiny figurines around the place are

02:12actually real people who had been turned by Pepper.

02:15She was a real elf who had been on a rampage ever since she stopped being Santa's favorite.

02:20Therefore, if Chris did not want to end up like them, he would have to solve the riddle

02:23that Pepper had given them, and he had to do it within three days before 8 p.m.

02:28How does Chris get all the rings?

02:30Chris initially believes that he needs to get his hands on five rings, according to

02:34the rhyme.

02:35He finds two almost immediately, but his mission requires him to include his family in the

02:39plan.

02:40His wife and kids are initially disbelieving, but when they see the talking figurines, they

02:44come on board the mission.

02:46This is also the time they tackle some family issues.

02:50Joy wants to go to Notre Dame University but her parents insist on USC.

02:54Nick wants to make music but is failing mathematics, and his parents want him to focus on academics

02:59more than anything.

03:00The other figurines are also caught up in their troubles since they have been confined

03:03by the curse binding them.

03:06Pepper finds where they are, but she doesn't break them free because she is positive that

03:09she will be able to take everyone home at once.

03:12As for the family struggles, Chris is angry because he believes he is doing everything

03:15for his children.

03:17However, they point out that his whole spirit of Christmas has always been centered around

03:21him and what he wants to do.

03:23Chris decides to face the facts, and he accepts his fault.

03:26He also tells his family about what will happen to him if he doesn't get all the rings.

03:31The catch here is that the fifth ring is Pepper herself.

03:34The family lays an elaborate trap for Pepper and it works by getting their hands on the

03:37last ring in time.

03:39But that is when it was revealed that they were supposed to find 40 rings and not just

03:435, as that had been a manipulation of the rhyme.

03:46There is utter mayhem in the streets because all the animals of the rhyme and the tree

03:49are running around with the rings around them, and the family has to scramble together.

03:54Even Santa has come there to teach Pepper a lesson, but he cannot interfere with the

03:57curse.

03:58Therefore, Chris, Holly, and the others try to find all the rings, and since the time

04:02is up, Chris ends up turning into a figurine.

04:05Pepper picks him up, and she is ready to add him to her collection, but Santa finally decides

04:09to work his magic.

04:11The deal was that the family collected 40 rings.

04:14So far, they have collected 38, but the wedding rings on Carol and Chris' hands can count

04:19for the other two.

04:20This is a slight manipulation, but it is also giving Pepper a taste of her own medicine.

04:25At the end of Candy Cane Lane, since they have all 40 rings as per the deal, Chris turns

04:29back to human, and Pepper is taken back to the North Pole by Santa.

04:33The family has made up, with Chris telling his kids to do what they want and live life

04:37on their own terms.

04:39One of the figurines, Pip, has become their friend, and the rest are living happily.

04:43As for Chris, he has taken over Pepper's pop-up shop, where Pepper is one of the figurines,

04:48as part of her punishment.
