00:00Dismissed Mamban Mayor Alice Goh has been cited for contempt anew after refusing to answer questions related to her identity and alleged death threats.
00:11Days after her arrest and repatriation to the Philippines, Goh finally faces the Senate, this time in a bulletproof vest.
00:18During the Senate panel's probe on Monday, September 9, Panel Head Senator Risa Contevero cited Goh for contempt for providing false and evasive testimony before the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality.
00:33I move to cite Goh Huapeng, also known as Alice Goh, in contempt of the Senate for testifying falsely and evasively before this committee.
00:44During the hearing, Goh neither confirmed nor denied that she is Chinese national Goh Huapeng, only insisting that she is Filipino national Alice Goh.
00:53Conteveros asked Goh directly whether or not she is Chinese national Goh Huapeng, but Goh insisted on her supposed Filipino identity.
01:01So after months of evading the Senate, now you're here. You answered completely and truthfully to our committee.
01:10Can you finally confirm before this committee, are you Goh Huapeng?
01:19Madam Chair, there are cases that were filed against me in court, so I cannot answer them to you now.
01:30Okay, I'll just rephrase. Do you have something to say at this point, Ms. Alice?
01:33Yes, Madam Chair. I am Alice Goh.
01:36Conteveros repeatedly clarified that the ousted mayor wouldn't incriminate herself by merely answering the question.
01:42However, this did not budge Goh, who insisted that she cannot answer the question, only maintaining that she is Alice Goh.
01:50But Conteveros cites the National Bureau of Investigation's confirmation that Alice Goh and Goh Huapeng's fingerprints have matched.
01:57The ousted mayor of Tarlac's Bamban town was arrested in Tanggerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia, at 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, according to the National Bureau of Investigation, citing the Indonesian police.
02:09She was taken into custody by the Philippine National Police after appearing in a court in Tarlac, which issued a warrant of arrest against her for alleged violation of Section 3E and H of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
02:24PNP Spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo earlier said Goh's lawyers requested for her continued detention at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Kram in Quezon City, which was granted by the court.
02:35KAPA-Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 approved Goh's appearance at the Senate following Conteveros' appeal for her presence in the public hearing.
