00:00Obviously, you have your music career, you DJ, you also have restaurants.
00:05Why even direct a movie?
00:07What was the inspiration to enter this world?
00:10Well, it was my son who inspired it.
00:14I was at the house during quarantine, no more touring, and I got a chance to spend a lot
00:21of time with him and my family and got to see what they were into.
00:26My house was being taken over by K-pop at the time, and BTS was just all I ever heard.
00:31That's when I posed the question, I know you know about BTS, but what do you know about
00:36BET?
00:37Yeah, it all started there.
00:41Then we started doing YouTube skits, and I got more into the YouTube skits than him.
00:48I started editing them and filming them, and I started seeing how naturally talented he
00:52was and fun.
00:53We started creating such a bond doing it, and I forgot about everything else I was doing.
00:57I forgot about shows and everything.
00:59I just wanted to spend more time with him, having fun doing skits.
01:03I was like, son, I want to write a movie for us.
01:07This could be funny.
01:09I was thinking I wanted to direct it because I didn't want anybody else to play my son
01:16but my son.
01:17I knew I wanted to be there with him and be able to spend time with him and direct him
01:22and also star in it with him.
01:26The idea, we worked on it, it was maybe over three years ago when it started.
01:31It took a crazy form, and now we're at TIFF, and it's amazing to be able to cross the finish
01:38line and be able to play it in a huge theater and see the reactions of people.
