00:00Go back to a little bit on the production of this.
00:03How did Cate Blanchett get involved? Had you been talking to each other about working together for a while?
00:09How did you kind of your orbits overlap?
00:12Well, I, you know, I knew Cate very little and mostly was
00:20because we bump into each other in film festivals, and she's incredible because you would see her in film festivals.
00:27Sometimes she doesn't have a film there.
00:30And she goes to a film festival just to watch cinema, to watch films, and that's remarkable, you know.
00:36I love that from the get-go.
00:39Also, but it was just like very brief, hello, goodbye, and each time it would be great to work together.
00:47The other way I knew I met her, but I didn't really meet her in person. It was like
00:53with all my envy and jealousy towards Guillermo and Alejandro because they had worked with Cate.
00:59So when I started working in the script, I mean, it was immediate.
01:04It was pretty much when the film formed in my head, I was thinking Cate.
01:10You know, I could not phantom anybody else but Cate, and I was terrified that Cate would say no.
01:18So, but I was blessed that she agreed to do the show.
01:24Do you, with Guillermo and Alejandro, do you discuss actors?
01:29Like if you're thinking of casting someone in someone's work,
01:31do you do you kind of call each other up and get the down-low on?
01:34I think that we discuss our laundry together. It's like, yeah, we discuss everything.
01:41Yeah, and particularly when we're doing a film, we discuss the whole process from the screenplay that we,
01:47you know, we shared our screenplays, and we take notes from each other and heavy criticisms, and
01:54also then the casting process.
01:58We, you know, we bounce ideas and
02:01the whole process goes like that, and they should. It's a bit more quiet because you allow the space.
02:07Sometimes they call you and, or I call them and
02:11during the process, but
02:14and then in the editing process, we
02:17we get very involved in each other's projects.
