00:00Wednesday's raid on the YTL Communications office by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission

00:08is the latest in the series of events linked to former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

00:14While the raid does not incriminate Muhyiddin, it looks very bad since YTL Communications

00:20was awarded the One Bestari Net project, which was initiated by Muhyiddin when he was Education

00:26Minister in 2011, says political analyst Azmi Hassan.

00:31Muhyiddin's troubles began after the 2022 general election, when he snubbed a request

00:36by the young Libertuan Agong to form a unity government with Bakatan Harapan, which led

00:41to Anwar Ibrahim becoming Prime Minister.

00:44Five months later, Muhyiddin was charged with abuse of power and money laundering in relation

00:49to the Janawi Bawa program.

00:52His leadership of Persatu also came under question after seven of the party's elected

00:57representatives declared support for Anwar's unity government, while past members held

01:03firm.

01:04But what may have dealt the biggest blow to Muhyiddin is that he now faces sedition charges

01:08after questioning why the then-young Libertuan Agong did not invite him to be Prime Minister

01:14following the 2022 general election, despite having the backing of 115 MPs.

01:21In the midst of all this, PAS appeared to distance itself from Muhyiddin when Deputy

01:25President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man backed a call by Pahang's Crown Prince for Muhyiddin to

01:31be investigated.

01:32However, the One Bestari Net prove may not be a death sentence for Muhyiddin's political

01:37career, as the controversy has been going on for some time, and his only link to it

01:43is that the initiative was his pet project, says analyst Azmi.
