A MAN with no mechanical experience has fulfilled his childhood goal of building his dream car. Taking inspiration from when he read car magazines in his youth, Moses Ngobeni, has managed to build his ideal car - all by hand. The electrical engineer from Giyani, South Africa, spent three years building the car he had dreamt of for decades. Building the car cost Moses 240,000 ZAR ($12,742) and was made using parts from a variety of different car models.

00:15Electrical engineer Moses Angabeni has realised
00:18a childhood dream to build his very own sports car from scratch.
00:23MOSES ANGABERNI
00:24While I was still a boy, something came up into my mind,
00:27He said, one day I want to build my own sports vehicle.
00:31And I saw those American sports cars like COVID.
00:35Then I said, one day, when I grow old, I want to build one.
00:38And nothing can stop me.
00:41It was bend by hand.
00:42The body structure, shape, and everything, it was handmade.
00:45And it's not like it's a complete workshop.
00:48But if you are determined to complete your future dream,
00:52you end up doing it.
00:53By God's grace, I've managed to complete my project.
00:56So I thank God for that.
00:57The thrifty engineer used car parts
01:00from a number of different models
01:02and has only spent 240,000 rands so far.
01:06That's just 12,700 pounds, or 16,750 US dollars.
01:12OK, the engine is a two-liter engine from BMW 318is, 98 model.
01:19The glasses, this small one here is from the Mazda 86 model.
01:23The door glasses are from BMW M3 E46 model, 2005.
01:30The front windscreen is from a BWKD Baki.
01:34The front lights, they're from ODTT 2011 model.
01:39The rear fog lamp is from the 318is.
01:41It was used as a brake assistance on top of the windscreen.
01:45The taillights are from Nissan Skyline GT-R 2015 model.
01:49Moses can even start the engine remotely.
01:53I'm really proud of him.
01:54I know it's a dream come true for him to build this car.
01:58It's his passion.
01:59And the supercar superfan hopes his new wheels
02:02will also make his country proud.
02:04In South Africa, we don't have a model
02:07that we say it was manufactured, designed by South Africa.
02:11I am in South Africa, and I'm not doing this thing for myself.
02:14It's for the country and for my people.
