A GENIUS mechanic has spent two years building his very own Formula 1 car from scratch. After attending a car event in Belgrade, supercar fanatic Mišo Kuzmanovic decided to make his childhood dreams come true by constructing his own race-car. Mišo worked long days and nights to complete his passion project, putting in more than 1,000 hours of labour – and spending an estimated $26,000 in the process. And now, Mišo’s efforts have been rewarded as he can drive the vehicle around his hometown, Prnjavor, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after making it fully road-legal.

00:00 Hello, I'm Miso Kuzmanovic from Prnjavor, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
00:05 This is my Formula.
00:07 I read that Formula 1 is coming to Belgrade,
00:27 just for a little promotion, so we went there.
00:30 It was cold.
00:32 And then we watched the race.
00:38 In my job, I did construction and design.
00:47 My friends also helped me.
00:51 I stayed up late, so we came to help him.
00:57 We brought him food and checked if everything was OK.
01:01 I was happy to help him, and later we enjoyed driving together.
01:08 The top speed for this F1 look-alike is about 100 mph,
01:17 not quite fast enough to race the real thing.
01:21 Formula 1 is not identical to Formula 1.
01:25 It was built according to my vision.
01:31 It was hard, because you had to put everything together and solve everything.
01:36 It took about two years.
01:39 We added some music, which is not in the regular Formula 1.
01:43 And then we concentrated on one box,
01:48 the drum, the tank, the engine, the gearbox, the rear wheel drive.
01:54 Since the space is small, I had to turn the wheel to put my foot in.
02:00 I wrote, "Please don't lean, touch and get in."
02:07 Thank you.
02:08 I didn't have the same problem with this.
02:14 Everyone wanted to touch, sit, lean, take pictures.
02:19 Everyone loves photography, but I had to write it down
02:24 to keep the color and the lines.
02:28 I had a problem with this, my wife helped me.
02:35 She asked me, "How long will you drive in Formula 1?"
02:39 "Where will I be?"
02:41 I had to finish the second box.
02:44 But I can tell you, it's unique, and every unique is expensive.
02:49 But the process was harder to legalize.
02:54 There was a lot of paperwork, but we managed to register it.
03:02 I have a wish and an idea to create something else.
03:08 These are some little secrets.
