Filing of impeachment case vs Sara Duterte mulled in House

Former Gabriela Rep. and Makabayan senatorial aspirant Liza Maza tells reporters at 'The Agenda' press briefing in San Juan City on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 that they are in discussions on whether they will file an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte over her alleged 'betrayal of public trust' following the issuance of a notice of disallowance on the OVP by the Commission on Audit (CoA) regarding its confidential funds and her demeanor during the congressional budget hearings.

00:00Of course, you were saying that impeachment is possible against the Vice President because of the confidential funds, but of course, the Vice President is solidly popular, 62% above her popularity rating, and she was voted by 32 million people.
00:18So do you think that there will be a pushover, a possible threat of impeachment against her?
00:26Well, before even there is an impeachment process, what's important is what we have seen, how she managed the Office of the Vice President and also the Department of Education.
00:42There are a lot of questions there. What I call those are the seven deadly sins that she committed as Secretary of DepEd.
00:51For example, underutilization, unexplained notices involving billions of Pesos, her demeanor, being cheap, not divulging information, etc.
01:09And these are seven things that I listed as a possible basis for the loss of public trust and because she was abused of her power.
01:22And it's only right that the people of our system do something about it. And one thing that is available to the people is impeachment to correct and to avoid a climate of impunity with regards to corruption.
01:42Do you have members, not incumbents, who are considering filing an impeachment case?
01:49Well, we are discussing that. We are consulting with our lawyers and our members as well.
01:58If you're coming up with that decision, with whatever decision, when? When will you come out?
02:06Well, maybe soon.
02:11But aren't you afraid that you might be bound by that? Because VP Sara mentioned before that the issue about confidential funds was about an alliance between the Marcos, Romualdez, and the left.
02:23So what can you say about the fact that the Vice President tagged you as an alliance?
02:30Because she's saying that there's an alliance between Marcos, Romualdez, and the left to connive against her and the family.
02:37She's not just a cheminette, she's also a delulu. Of course, that's not true.
02:42I mean, maybe we already know what she's doing, the Vice President.
02:49She's fond of making up stories. She has paranoia.
02:58She makes up stories.
03:01But what's important is that we go to the issue, not to her so-called alliance.
03:11And besides, if we see that, for example, Rep. Franz is one of the first to blame and expose the possible anomalies in the administration of VP Sara.
