00:00Yeah, massive day today in soccer world because US Women's National Star San Diego Wave player
00:05Alex Morgan announced that she is officially retiring from professional
00:10soccer. So not just the national team, she's retiring in general. Reason being probably
00:15is because she also announced that she's pregnant. So she will play her final game
00:20ever for the San Diego Wave on Sunday, I believe they play at 5pm. And then she's officially
00:25retiring. Saw her Instagram this morning, she had this post and she kind of I could tell she
00:30was all teary eyed. And she was like, I'm just gonna get right to it. In fact, do we have the
00:35video? I think we have some of it. Yes. Yeah, go ahead and play a little bit of it. I'm gonna
00:40get to the point quickly. I'm retiring. And I have so much clarity about this decision.
00:50And I'm so happy to be able to finally tell you. It has been
00:59a long time coming. And this decision wasn't easy. But at the beginning of 2024,
01:06I felt in my heart and soul that this was the last season that I would play soccer.
01:14You know, when I saw her say this, she lives right around the corner from me,
01:18I will just tell you that. I'm always looking to try and run into her in town somewhere.
01:23So I love Alex Morgan, just hang out by her house and be like, Oh, she going for a run? Oh,
01:28start running. Yeah, dude, I love her. I run outside. No, dude, I absolutely love her.
01:34Many years ago, she had written a book and I had her on a podcast and she was awesome.
01:40And I just love her. I love the player that she was. I love what she stood for. And I can tell
01:46you guys right now, no joke, my daughter and I, when my daughter was playing like high school
01:50club, ECNL soccer, people know, you know, it's a preparatory league for people who are going to
01:56play college soccer. My daughter and I would drive to our soccer matches. You know, we have to
02:02travel to Vegas or Phoenix or wherever. And we would talk about her book. We would read passages
02:07from her book. She was just like me and my daughter. Her and her dad were super, super tight.
02:11And she just I loved her until one thing happened. I don't blame Alex Morgan for this.
02:17The U.S. Women's National Team was playing here in San Diego at the former Qualcomm Stadium. When
02:21the game was over, I took my two daughters who I was with my two girls at the time, two of my three.
02:26And we went down to the press conference slash locker room area because I said to Alex during
02:31the podcast, hey, if you don't mind, I'll come find you after the game. I'd love to take a
02:34picture with you and my girls. We go down after the game and there's this picture. There's my
02:39daughter, Jillian, on the left, who is a really, really good soccer player. And my daughter,
02:43Julia, who is just wearing the U.S. Women's National Team shirt. And there's Alex Morgan
02:47in the middle. And she was very polite. She was super sweet. And she took a picture with the
02:50girls. And this is one of those pictures I'll have forever. Dude, security, not security PR
02:56for the U.S. Women's National Team came up and freaked out at me. Get him out of here.
03:02Throw him out of here. You just embarrassed the entire event. I'm like, what are you talking
03:08about, bro? I've got a proper credential to be down here. And we talked earlier this week and
03:12she was totally cool with it. And I knew all the security guys at the stadium because I was working
03:17NFL football games every weekend. Dude, they kicked me out like they didn't arrest me. They
03:22didn't put my hands behind my back. But they like they ushered me and my daughters out because this
03:26guy from the U.S. Women's National Team PR freaked out, dude, lost his mind because I took a picture
03:32of my daughters with Alex Morgan. Alex, I love you, girl. Congratulations on your brilliant career.
03:39Start that family. Start that life, man. And second, well, whatever. You are an all time
03:46legend as far as I'm concerned. I know she already had a kid. I know. Second kid. Second kid. But it's
03:50yes. Agreed. And what a great career, man. If you go through her accomplishments, I mean, there's
03:55nothing that she didn't win. So and she helped to bring a championship to San Diego already, too.
04:00They didn't win the title, but they won some sort of cup last year. So, yeah.
