00:10The Philippine Men's National Football Team lost their match last night against Malaysia in the 2024 Merdeka Cup.
00:23They ended up with a score of 2-1.
00:25In front of a strong defense by the home squad, the Philippines scored their first goal in the 27th minute of the game from Jefferson Taminas.
00:36Four minutes before the halftime started, Malaysia recovered through a corner kick play that was the reason for a goal by Shamer Kutiaba.
00:48Malaysia broke the deadlock in the second half after Safawi Rasid scored a penalty kick from a foul by Matthew Valdisimo in the 71st minute.
00:58The Philippine National Football Team tried several times to score a goal in the remaining minutes of the game, but the home team was still able to score.
01:06Despite the penalty kicks and penalties that were not given to the Philippines,
01:11Interim Head Coach Norman Feguedero Jr. was still happy with the performance of our football team.
01:18I'm very happy to my players that we put a very good fight until the final whistle.
01:25So, I'm very proud of them.
01:27We have a very good chance for the first minute of the game.
01:32And then, of course, as you can see, we have another chance.
01:36What we saw is a penalty in the first half and also the second half.
01:40So, that and that, I cannot control.
01:43The Philippine Men's National Football Team will return to action on Sunday for the battle for third against Tajikistan.
01:51Daryl Oclares for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
