00:00The sky in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, lit up for a moment just a while ago at 12 o'clock in the early morning.
00:07Some residents were able to capture the passage of an asteroid.
00:11Six fireballs were seen in the sky.
00:14It was also seen in the town of Santa Ana.
00:17Experts called the so-called asteroid 2024-RW1.
00:23According to experts, the asteroid was only detected about 4 p.m. yesterday
00:30by an astronomical observatory in Arizona, America.
00:34No one expected that the asteroid would fall from the sky because it was burned in the atmosphere.
00:41Meanwhile, when the asteroid suddenly lit up the sky in Cagayan early in the morning,
00:47let's talk to Mr. Mario Raymundo, the head of Astronomical Publication and Planetarium Unit ng Pag-asa.
00:55Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:58Yes, Connie. Good morning to all the viewers of your program.
01:04Balitang Hali.
01:05What does it mean when an asteroid enters the Earth's atmosphere?
01:11Well, the period of discovery and the point of entry to the Earth that we call 2024-RW1 asteroid is too near.
01:23Now, this asteroid is said to be by history and data, it is a pantheon.
01:30There are many kinds of asteroids that are located between planets Mars and Jupiter.
01:36And then, most of them have data.
01:43But not all of them, because when it is discovered, it will enter the Earth.
01:50And so, they predicted that this orbital period will fall here in the Philippines, in the northern tip of the Philippines.
01:57Their prediction is almost accurate because based on the videos that I see now,
02:04that you posted on Facebook, it is more or less 1240.
02:08So, the real one that they see is not a defunct satellite.
02:13This is a real one that entered the atmosphere. This is what we call an asteroid.
02:17I see. Okay.
02:18But the European Space Agency said that it should not go there because it is harmless. Is that right?
02:26Because its characteristic is an explosion in the high atmosphere.
02:30It means that such an asteroid, such as METEORS,
02:35when it enters our atmosphere, it burns.
02:40And so, if it is in excess of fusion, it will suddenly explode.
02:45Okay.
02:46Now, most of them will not be able to enter our Earth because it is only there that it crumbles, especially when it is small.
02:53Do you have, yes, sorry, go ahead.
02:56Now, and if anyone can survive during that fragmentation,
02:59because it is already exhibiting a terminal flask, a bright terminal flask,
03:04if anyone can survive the fragmentation and our countrymen are able to sit on it,
03:10this is what we call a meteorite, which is a side-out because I think that if anyone can survive,
03:15they can land on the sea.
03:17I see. Okay.
03:18But will there be similar events in the near future?
03:22There definitely will be because we have billions of pieces of asteroids around,
03:28in between Mars and Jupiter.
03:31That is why, of course, the so-called near-Earth object is what we call the Athens and Apollos.
03:39Those are Earth-crossers.
03:41And so, definitely, there is a time when those will visit the planet Earth.
03:48That is why, of course, the question is, when?
03:51That is the real concern of our astronomers.
03:55Thank you very much for sharing with us the information, Mr. Mario Raymundo
03:59of the Astronomical Publication and Planetarium Unit of Pag-asa.
04:07The water in the Lamesa Dam is no longer flowing.
04:10Earlier, Pag-asa recorded 80.15 meters of water level in the so-called dam.
04:16That is also the spilling level of water in the Lamesa Dam.
04:19The Ipo Reservoir continues to lose water.
04:23A gate has been opened while its water level is at more than 100 meters at present.
04:29Part of the water in the Magat and Kaliraya Reservoir has also decreased.
04:33The water level in Angat, Ambuklao, Binga, San Roque, and Pantabangan Reservoir has increased.
04:47Suspected or suspected cases of M-pox or former monkey pox
04:51can be tested for free in some public hospitals.
04:55That is what Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said in a budget hearing of the camera.
05:00He also raised the fill health benefit package
05:03because he considers the supply of test kits for M-pox to be thin.
05:08Based on the DOH data,
05:10eight active cases of M-pox have been isolated in the Philippines.
05:14Six are in Metro Manila while two others are in Calabarzon.
05:19The agency of the task force that will focus on this has already formed.
05:23Here is the list of hospitals that can be tested for M-pox.
05:28Research Institute for Tropical Medicine,
05:31San Lazaro Hospital,
05:33East Avenue Medical Center,
05:35Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center,
05:37Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital,
05:40Quirino Memorial Medical Center,
05:43and UP Philippine General Hospital.
