The Karnataka government has declared dengue an epidemic disease. As a result, all civic authorities have been given additional powers to enforce civil laws. Although the peak of dengue cases has passed and the number of cases has decreased, it is still necessary to maintain cleanliness and take precautions. According to current data, Karnataka has recorded 25,406 dengue cases so far. Of these, 23,827 patients have recovered, 1,569 cases are still active, and 12 deaths have been reported. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said, to control mosquitoes and fine those who are not managing mosquito breeding sites, we are enforcing stricter measures. Regarding the cases, we are now seeing a reduced number of cases, with most being mild. Earlier, we were dealing with more severe cases.

00:30is basically to give an awareness
00:33and some stringent orders for the publics
00:36in order to control the mosquitoes.
00:38Basically, they will go on to put a fine
00:40for the publics who are not managing
00:43the mosquito breeding places properly.
00:45That is the thing.
00:46And the second thing is the caseload.
00:48We are getting the reduced caseloads.
00:51Day by day, we are getting less number of cases.
00:54Yeah, migrant labors and we are getting
00:56the mild forms of cases.
00:57Earlier days, we used to get the severe forms
00:59of increasing cases.
01:01What we are admitting here is the cases
01:03of very low platelet counts
01:05and the warning signs, danger signs,
01:07which we are calling the increase in blood pressures
01:10and patient is having severe vomiting and dehydrations.
01:13Those patients which we are admitting,
01:15the mild forms, just we put a OPD-based treatment.
01:18We used to follow the cases.
01:20We used to ask the patients to come for the follow-up.
01:22We used to, daily, we used to monitor the platelet.
01:24Those who are getting less platelet
01:26with bleeding tendencies,
01:27we used to admit to the inpatients.
01:29It's mostly the labor or construction people
01:31which are what we are getting the patient types.
01:33The major thing is to, they have to,
01:36the publics or the construction workers
01:38or the owners of the construction area
01:41has to maintain that area is very clean
01:44and they should avoid the mosquito-breeding places
01:46and they should avoid the stagnant waters.
01:49Rengu is an epidemic only because it is,
01:52you know, spread all across Karnataka
01:55and we have used this notification
01:57so that our officers can be, you know, more alert
02:02and anybody, they get some additional powers.
02:06Right now, what had happened was
02:08just the Bangalore City Corporation
02:10and Bangalore City Corporation,
02:12using their civic laws,
02:13they were enforcing certain actions
02:16against people who are violating norms,
02:19repeated violators.
02:22So now, through this notification,
02:26we've given powers to all our deputy commissioners
02:28at the district level.
02:30They become the competent authority
02:31and they can enforce, you know, certain strict measures
02:35in case people start, you know,
02:40start doing things which they're not supposed to do,
02:42especially in terms of, you know,
02:44allowing stagnation of water
02:46and excessive breeding of mosquitoes.
02:48And even if we warn them,
02:50if they don't take necessary steps,
02:52then we can, you know,
02:53in fact, even put some fines on them
02:55and it just empowers them a little bit more.
02:58Though Dengue cases are coming down right now,
03:00it is not that it is a cause of any serious worry,
03:04but we want to be cautious till the rains subside
03:07and the monsoons are over.
03:09So till at least October month,
03:11we want to be more careful about it.
03:14It's not alarming,
03:15just that, you know,
03:16it is just a simple notification
03:18just empowering our officers more.
03:21In fact, I think we have crossed the peak of Dengue,
03:25but we're just empowering our people, that's all.
03:27So nothing to people to get worried
03:28or getting any to be stressed out on this issue.
