00:00Okay, Raffy.
00:01Yes.
00:02Recently, there has been a reduction in the frequency of flights, right?
00:06So, there is a concern.
00:07For example, from the US in Sarawak, the price will rise high.
00:10Because according to the flight frequency reduction, it's about half, you know.
00:15From now until next year.
00:17So, they are worried that there will be an increase in prices or monopolies.
00:20So, what is the issue?
00:21In terms of the government.
00:22First, the reduction in flights is a necessity for them to address the issues of technical
00:28issues that are happening.
00:29As I have explained, this is a drastic step taken by the Malaysian Airlines.
00:36It's not that they like to take this step.
00:39Because there are many technical issues that affect the Malaysian Airlines, they have to
00:44take this step to reduce flights in the next few months.
00:49So that they can ensure that these planes are sent for maintenance and so on.
00:57So that the planes are more prepared to face operations after this.
01:04And we also expect that there will be new planes that will arrive in the next 1-2 months.
01:12So, this is just a temporary step.
01:14It's not a permanent step.
01:16It's just a temporary step for a few months.
01:18So, in the next few months, of course, there are still other options.
01:22There are other airlines.
01:23There is AirAsia, there is Batik.
01:25And also, the Malaysian Airlines still has some flights.
01:29What they lack is probably international flights.
01:34Of course, Sabah Sarawak will also be reduced in flights.
01:37But there are still offers from other airlines.
01:43Regarding the flight tickets.
01:46Just this morning, in today's Cabinet meeting,
01:49the first thing that I have brought is a paper from the Prime Minister today.
01:54And the Cabinet has decided
01:56for the Student Flight Programme initiative,
01:59which is a 300 ringgit flight ticket
02:02to Sabah and Sarawak students who study in Semenanjung
02:06and also students from Semenanjung who study in Sabah and Sarawak
02:11for IPTA, Institute of Engineering, and so on.
02:16They will still be given a 300 ringgit flight ticket this year.
02:20And that will be used as an annual initiative.
02:23So, every year we will help.
02:25This is at the level of the government.
02:27The government of Sabah and Sarawak will also help their IPTA students
02:32as much as 600 ringgit.
02:34So, this can reduce the burden, especially for students.
02:38For IPTA students who study in Semenanjung from Sabah and Sarawak.
02:43Secondly, the Prime Minister has also agreed
02:47to maintain the ceiling price for the holiday season.
02:54That is, three days before the holiday season,
02:57we will set the ceiling price for all flights
03:00between Semenanjung and Sabah and Sarawak.
03:03That will be maintained and continued for the upcoming holiday season.
03:08That is, including Christmas, Chinese New Year, Eid, and so on.
03:14And the next day is Gawai.
03:17So, that will be continued and we will set the ceiling price
03:21as it has been done before,
03:23which is at the price of 599 ringgit, the maximum price.
03:27So, what is left, we will give subsidies from the government to the airline companies.
03:34So, that is one of the steps that we have taken to ensure
03:38that the people of Sabah and Sarawak can be helped and reduce their burden.
03:44So, is this also related to the flight deduction?
03:48No, it is not related.
03:50That has already been done.
03:52The maximum price is for the holiday season.
03:55Because for the maximum price for the holiday season,
03:58we have to pay, the government has to pay for the difference in price.
04:02So, we are not able to do it for the whole year.
04:05It is only done during the holiday season.
04:07But for the frequency of flights,
04:10of course, we, the Ministry of Transportation,
04:13we will try to get cooperation from other airline companies
04:18to ensure that their frequency can be maintained at least,
04:23or increased, especially for the Sabah and Sarawak sector.
