00:00This whole area overnight was covered in water and it really has been receding even while
00:07we've been here.
00:08We've been here since about 5.30 this morning and the water really has receded back.
00:12That's the Bowls Club just over this way and then the River Derwent's actually on the other
00:16side of that.
00:17So the greens there of the Bowls Club are all underwater.
00:20There is a caravan park over that way that's underwater as well.
00:24And then we have houses this side and we just spoke to a resident that lives in this white
00:28house here.
00:29The water was about 30 centimetres up that wall of their property there.
00:33We were having a chat to her.
00:34She was saying even though the threat does seem to be over at this point, they've kept
00:39all their furniture chocked up for now, left up off the floor level to try to just make
00:44sure that everything is safe and dry.
00:46They were very relieved that they didn't get water into the house last night when there
00:51was that flood peak.
00:52Further upriver, just below Meadow Bank Dam, the river had peaked to about 8 metres and
00:59it was sustained up above the major flood level between midday yesterday and midnight
01:05before it started to recede.
01:06So there's a lot of relief here that even though there are some issues, there has been
01:11some inundation, some people have been isolated.
01:14There's a lot of relief that it is starting to ease off now and that people can hopefully
01:18start the clean up further along there.
01:21We were there earlier.
01:23There was a lot of debris over the road in that kind of residential area there.
01:28So there's going to be a huge clean up and that's right across the state.
01:31The whole state has really been impacted over an entire week really.
01:35So that's continuing.
01:37There is still ongoing efforts to restore power, to restore phone and internet services
01:42and even cleaning up trees and things like that.
01:44So the warnings are still in place.
01:47This area is at a watch and act and there are watch and acts in other areas across the
01:50state and advice level alerts as well.
01:53So plenty of work still to be done to recover from this wild weather.
