00:00Some residents in the coastal area of Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila
00:04were affected by the severe typhoon.
00:06Luisa Erizue has the details.
00:11Ryan is still not sure how their house was affected by the typhoon last month.
00:17But his problem is getting worse
00:20because just after September,
00:22they were hit by another typhoon
00:25that destroyed his entire home and his family.
00:30The typhoon was so big
00:32and there was a house that fell
00:34and we were hit by it.
00:36We had a lot of things to save
00:38but we didn't have anything to use.
00:40I hope we can build a house again.
00:42Ryan is one of the residents in the coastal area of Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila
00:48who was affected by the severe typhoon.
00:50It wasn't just the rain that affected them
00:54but also the wind that caused a strong typhoon
00:57that hit their houses.
00:59Out of the 30 houses that I'm building,
01:03this is the only one that is built.
01:05But because of the strong wind and typhoon,
01:07the only things left in the houses
01:09are post and wood.
01:13But aside from the strong typhoon,
01:15another thing that affected the residents
01:17was the barge that sank
01:19on the old side to Sabaseco.
01:22We were only able to reach their family
01:24in the evacuation centers
01:26because their house was completely destroyed
01:28when the barge hit it.
01:32When the barge hit it,
01:34it was already sinking.
01:36It was the first time for us
01:38in 21 years.
01:40It's hard to celebrate Christmas
01:42because we don't have anything.
01:44Where are we now?
01:46We don't have food to buy
01:48especially when our students come in.
01:50We don't have anything to buy.
01:52According to the Manila LGU,
01:54around 3 p.m.,
01:56more than 30 families
01:58were evacuated from the Baseco Compound
02:00in Tondo, Manila.
02:02They are now continuing
02:04to H.J. Atienza Elementary School
02:06where they are given food,
02:08drinks, and temporary shelter.
02:10But if there are people who were evacuated,
02:12there are also people
02:14who were forced to stay in their houses
02:16even if it rains.
02:18It happens every year.
02:20We are not evacuating anymore
02:22because we are used to it.
02:24The house is high
02:26and we are taking care of the lower part.
02:28It's hard to leave
02:30because there are a lot of people
02:32here even if there are no people in the house.
02:34According to the Manila LGU,
02:36only Baseco is affected
02:38by the rain
02:40but the local government
02:42is still trying to prevent
02:44the rain from continuing
02:46to continue.
