00:00In Atlanta, top 15 showdown between number one Georgia and
00:07number 14 Clemson. UGA closed as a ten and a half point
00:11favorite. The total at 48 and a half. We knew the defenses
00:16would be on display. We just weren't so sure that Clemson
00:19would be held to only three points. The issues that have
00:23plagued this Tigers offense continue and Georgia rolls in
00:27its season opener thirty-four to three. Yeah, so this is one
00:29of those instances just from the betting perspective where
00:33you know, mistakes were made as somebody who loved Georgia in
00:36this spot all summer long. I said, ah, maybe it's an over,
00:40right? Maybe that I should show some respect. Maybe their
00:44offense should surprise. No, and is this really this
00:48surprising that again, Kate Klobnik didn't look the level
00:51that again, the Clemson Tigers didn't look the level of the
00:54Georgia Bulldogs and we've talked about it. It's been a
00:56very long time since Clemson has pulled up against an elite
01:01team and looked the level. I mean, I guess if you thought
01:05they hung with Georgia the year that they opened with them and
01:08that horrendous non, you know, was it ten three, seven, three
01:11finals, four, ten, three, you know, you're talking about when
01:14they were making CFPs and what you see from Clemson. It's kind
01:18of what we saw from Florida State. You're lucky there's an
01:22auto bid for an ACC champion. That is your only way you are
01:26getting into the playoff if you are Dabo Sweeney and the
01:28Clemson Tigers. Yeah, I was shocked in terms of yesterday's
01:31performance, especially with five months of preparation to
01:34see the offensive game plan for Garrett Riley and and Kate
01:38Klobnik. They were very conservative. I counted about
01:4180% runs in regards to first on first downs, right? That put
01:45them into predictable third down situations. They only
01:48converted four of twelve in regards to the third down
01:51opportunities and they only opened it up after it was too
01:54late, right? I I talked to you about it throughout the game
01:57that I thought Georgia was just playing and toying with the
02:00Clemson Tigers because they knew that they won both sides
02:03of the ball as it related to the interior. They knew that
02:06they could push around Clemson and that Kate Klobnik and that
02:09offense been would not threaten that secondary in any regard
02:13and then finally you saw Carson Beck open it up twenty-three
02:17or thirty-three for 278. He got going in the second half and
02:20prove why he's a Heisman Trophy front runner. Listen, there's
02:23positives for Georgia and the number one team in the country
02:27and the preseason national championship favorites where
02:30they remain after the first full Saturday but first we
02:33focus on Clemson because that is the glaring issue. After
02:37four ACC losses a season ago, the most under Davo Sweeney
02:41since Davo's second full year back in 2010, would this be a
02:46resilient Tigers team that needed to improve offensively?
02:50Last year, less than thirty points per game. They have not
02:53ranked inside the top three in terms of ACC scoring offenses
02:57in the last three seasons and it doesn't seem as though they
03:00have really changed anything and Joe, that's been the number
03:04one critique of Davo Sweeney. Alright, by Clemson standards,
03:08you're not winning ACC titles every year. You haven't been to
03:11the college football playoffs since the 2020 campaign. How do
03:15you start to change and adjust? He hasn't. They brought in zero
03:19transfers and we are seeing it rear its ugly head once again.
03:22It seems like they're trying to force the square peg into the
03:24round hole. They averaged 2.1 yards per carry so they couldn't
03:27run the football. They averaged 177 yards per game last year
03:31and were inconsistent, right? And then this the other aspect
03:35too, Ben, is that again, they were not aggressive. I mean,
03:37this was a perfect opportunity to break tendency and they
03:41didn't do that. There wasn't a threat in regards to the
03:44outside. We talked about it in the pregame all week. They
03:46haven't had a thousand-yard receiver in over three years
03:49since Amari Rogers. You're used to T Higgins and Mike
03:53Williams and all those big players, Justin Ross in in
03:56previous years. Where's the big play threat for Cade
03:59Klemnickev? I just do not see it and it's not gonna and it's
04:02not gonna get better. I I do not see it getting better now.
04:06They just wanna grind games out and I say it. It's like the
04:09Doctor Evil of college football. Why win games forty
04:12to twenty when you could lose them seventeen to thirteen?
04:15What I think's so interesting is the Georgia Bulldogs just
04:19beat a top fifteen team by thirty-one points. Yeah. And
04:23none of us feel the takeaway is. Georgia's ready to do it
04:26again. Yeah. All in all, Georgia felt a little
04:29underwhelming. They went over their team total. They held
04:32Clemson to three points. The offense settled for field goals
04:35in the first half which by the way kinda showed uh these guys
04:38can't hang with us. Kirby knew. Kirby knew. Kirby was right. I
04:41mean, again, I in terms of active head coaches that have
04:44won national championships, you know, Kirby has two, Dabo has
04:47two. They don't feel like they're playing the same game
04:49but for Georgia, you're judged on a different scale and if you
04:55were playing Miami, we'll get there. I don't know what this
04:59game looks like. I'm not saying they lose. It doesn't look like
05:01this though. Right. Because of the opportunities that were
05:03left out there and for the and for Georgia due to the the
05:08talent level in the SEC this season with the additions of
05:10Texas and OU, it's a much much more difficult schedule and
05:15and they're going to be spots where this team could be had.
05:17Last year, the Bulldogs had the third easiest schedule in the
05:20SEC. Now, nationally this year for UGA, the third most
05:24difficult. They passed test number one and they cover as a
05:27double-digit favorite yesterday in Atlanta. Thirty-four to
05:30three. The final.
