00:00Let's get into the running back rankings because you're gonna you're gonna upset some people
00:08here but but I'm with you and let's start at the top. Let's go.
00:11It's one of my favorite things to do is upset people. Now these aren't my rankings. These
00:14aren't the Joey P rankings. These are the expert consensus rankings. And the reason
00:19why I'm bringing this up is because every time you go to one of your sites, your ESPNs,
00:24your CBS, your Yahoo's, your sleepers to draft, there's going to be different ADPs on those
00:28sites, right? Because the algorithms, they're going to push certain guys in certain directions.
00:33But this is kind of the consensus of all these. So I think would be helpful is to break these
00:36down and give you an idea of where some values are and where some landmines might potentially
00:41be. When you're looking at the top tier of our bees, it's the usual suspects, right?
00:45It's the Christian McCaffrey at the top, Breeze Hall, B. John Robinson, I would have B. John
00:48Robinson ahead of Breeze Hall just because I think the style of offense in Atlanta can
00:52be way more explosive with Kirk Cousins and the way that roster is set up than necessarily
00:57the jets.
00:58I think the jets are going to be kind of a conservative offense. And if they are, it's
01:02just going to sometimes limit, I think the upside of potentially what's going on there
01:07with, you know, the Aaron Rodgers situation. And this is a situation because the guy hasn't
01:11played football in a year and everybody thinks I'm being, you know, stupid when I talk about,
01:17well, why didn't he play at all in preseason? Well, we're trying to keep him healthy. How
01:20about you get him ready? How about you waited all year to get him ready and he still hasn't
01:26gone out there to take some preseasons? I'm not saying you had to play a whole preseason
01:29game or even a quarter. How about one drive? How about two drives? How about something?
01:33He's 40 years old. Let's get the feel back. I understand practice is great and everything
01:37is sunshine and roses, but I don't know. For me, it's B. John over Breeze Hall. Next you
01:42have Jonathan Taylor, Jameer Gibbs, Saquon Barkley. This is a tier that has upside and
01:47volatility and a half PPR. And that's where these rankings are. I'm fine with taking one
01:51of these guys at the turn here. If you feel comfortable and you want to get your RB, they're
01:56good values. But right after that is Derrick Henry at seven. And if you are, let's say
02:01in the middle of a draft there and you take, I'm on raw St. Brown with your first pick.
02:05And then Derrick Henry makes it back to you in the second round. You take him, you take
02:08him because he's going to get touchdowns. He's going to get carries. He's going to get
02:12volume. He's going to get yards. He's going to get everything you want there. So you're
02:15in good shape there. Travis ATN next Kyron Williams and Isaiah Pacheco. The next guy
02:20on here is Devon HM and he is going aggressively at 11. And this is one of those make or break
02:26picks. He is either going to probably come away with 1200 yards rushing and, you know,
02:3214 touchdowns and it's going to be a glorious season or it's going to be an incomplete and
02:37this pick can really hurt you. So a lot of this has to do with what sort of drafter you
02:41are, what sort of stakes you're playing for in your league, because HN is not just all
02:47upside. There's a lot of it, but there's downside to, I'm not shying people away.
02:52If you get them in the third round, I think it's a really interesting situation, especially
02:56let's say you start a team with Brees Hall or Bijan. You take a big wide receiver in
02:59the second round, third round HN still there. It's a really interesting temptation. And
03:05depending on what the board looks like, I get it. I like him a lot more as your second
03:08RB than as your first, but if you do take him as your first, make sure you back it up
03:13with somebody that's pretty steady. Matt, what do you think of that assessment of HN
03:16and are you somebody that thinks that HN is worth that risk slash reward potentially?
03:21Well, it's a great question. And the reason is because I'm hearing so many people talk
03:26about this dilemma. I know so many people that would prefer Bijan and Derek Henry, even
03:30in Saquon over Christian McCaffrey. But in order to do that, you have to draft it in
03:35a smart way. So that's why I've been off of HN on a lot of drafts, unless it's just falling
03:40into my lap and I can't deny it. And to the point, Jon, finding myself going wide receiver
03:45first, then a running back, because in my mind, outside of Bijan, Derek Henry, Saquon
03:52won. If you have the first pick, are you taking Saquon? That's the question. So if I'm having
03:57that question about Saquon Barkley, you can imagine my dilemmas on guys like HN, even
04:01Kyra Williams. Let's go now to the second rank here because people are pulling their
04:05hair out, but I don't think they need to. Joe?
04:08No, I don't think they need to. I think the RB2 situation starts off pretty well. James
04:16Cook coming off a good year. Last year, the touchdowns were low, but that's because Josh
04:17Allen took a lot of rushing touchdowns away from him. Ray Davis there could also do that.
04:21So it could be more of the same. So if you're looking at projections from James Cook, it
04:25could be kind of the same deal that you saw last year. When the touchdowns are low, the
04:28yardage is good, better in PPR than in half or especially standard leagues. So a lot of
04:33these guys, it also depends on what format you're playing in. Always cater to your format.
04:36Rule number one. The next guy after him, Rashad White. I probably got more shares than any
04:41other human being on the planet of Rashad White. I just don't get it. This guy was incredibly
04:45steady last year. He catches the football. There's room for more touchdown upside. If
04:50you look at what he did last year, the only guy they brought in was Bucky Irving, who's
04:53a nice little player. But again, emphasis on the little. He's a little smaller. So I
04:57don't see how Rashad White isn't the lead guy by a country mile here. Ken Walker, Joe
05:02Mixon, Alvin Kamara. This is the grouping here where you'll see me dip into the pool
05:07at running back heart because I think from cook to Camara, you got some good value there,
05:12especially if you're going early wide receiver Rashad White, Ken Walker, Joe Mixon, Camara
05:17backfield. You can make that work. This other part here, the Montgomery Aaron Jones or Mondra
05:22Najee Harris, most are Deandre Swift. There's a lot of landmines, a lot of age here, a lot
05:27of concerns with the offense. So to me, that first part of RV two is good. The latter part,
05:32a little bit more delicate, maybe stay away, take more wide receivers and then come back
05:36with this next group. Yep. Now I agree wholeheartedly out of that tier. I mean, Joe Mixon would
05:40be the only one that I would circle and have any interest. You go to this next group here
05:44and there's a couple of names. I would take Tony Pollard and I take the Taiji Spears as
05:48the cuff. I'd be interested in Brian Robinson jr. But more so I'm interested in what you
05:52have to say, Joe. Look, Zamir white, the lead running back in that grouping, uh, over in
05:58Las Vegas loves Amir white tone powered, still the guy you want in PPR league. So I'm definitely
06:02going with Tony Pollard again. I agree with you all of a sudden late. Now I'm getting
06:06a lot of Tony Pollard shares. Brian Robinson, I think it's gonna be the lead back, but I
06:09don't mind taking Eckler a little later either on full PPR. I think that move of Johan Dotson
06:15getting traded, everyone's talking about Luke McCaffrey and Deami Brown and then they just
06:19got Noah Brown. Let's talk about Austin Eckler playing a little bit more slot wide receiver
06:22because I think that's something you're going to see him catch a lot more football. So,
06:26uh, I think Eckler might be the big beneficiary there. A lot of people love chase Brown. I
06:30don't love Zach Moss. Uh, again, maybe just to stay away from me, Jonathan Brooks, you're
06:34not going to have for quite a while. And then the other guy who's not on this list that
06:38I am drafting everywhere is Jalen, right? Jalen, right. Of the Miami dolphins. Remember
06:43that name most dirt is on borrowed time. And I'm telling you, it's only a matter of time
06:47before Jalen, right? It's into this backfield and becomes at least the one B and Miami.
06:52And that is a very valuable fantasy bowl.
